Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noah Diaz (ranked 735 p4p, 787 weight class) and Nicholas Sartre (ranked 94 p4p, 107 weight class). Diaz's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, OPULENT. Noah Diaz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noah Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicholas Sartre! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sartre.
Sartre throws a head kick that misses and Diaz counters with a good low kick that Sartre was not able to check. Diaz throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Sartre throws a hook but Diaz blocks it. Sartre with a jab. Diaz throws out a token jab with nothing on it. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sartre! But no joy. Diaz throws out a loose jab but Sartre uses good head movement to avoid it. Sartre throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Diaz scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz fails to land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sartre avoids the body shot from Diaz.
Sartre looks like he wants to counter punch here. Sartre with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Diaz to score with a decent uppercut. Diaz misses with a leg kick enabling Sartre to counter with a crisp jab. Diaz throws the kick towards the body but Sartre avoids it. Diaz throws a body shot but no joy. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sartre! But no joy. Sartre throws a body punch but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sartre. Sartre looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Sartre avoids the body shot from Diaz.
We've been informed that Sartre has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Sartre keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sartre was well out of range. Poor timing from Diaz. Sartre lands a head kick. Diaz smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Sartre moves out of range of the body kick from Diaz.

Diaz lands a glancing blow to the side of Sartre's head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Diaz misses the jab. Diaz takes a swing at Sartre's ribcage but misses. Sartre throws a quick inside leg kick. Sartre throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Sartre misses with a hook. Diaz ducked under it nicely. Sartre lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Diaz throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Diaz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Sartre fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Diaz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Diaz on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Sartre misses with an uppercut. Noah Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz throws a poor cross that misses
and Sartre counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Sartre fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Diaz to the ground. Sartre is now in Diaz's guard. Sartre won't allow Diaz to sweep him here. Sartre is looking to pass into half guard but Diaz pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Diaz is in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sartre escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sartre trying to control the position.
Sartre is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sartre is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Diaz passes Sartre's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Sartre actively working from the bottom here. Sartre slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sartre working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Diaz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sartre has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diaz has managed to get both his arms back between Sartre's legs - danger averted.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sartre is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sartre working a defensive guard but Diaz manages to pass into side control anyway.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sartre is holding Diaz down, trying to stall. Diaz has knee on belly and moves into mount. Sartre working to try and regain half guard.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Sartre is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sartre avoid being mounted? Sartre wants to improve his position but Diaz is controlling well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diaz misses with a straight left. Sartre bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Diaz's head backwards. Sartre cracks Diaz with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Nicholas Sartre will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Diaz misses with a kick to the body and Sartre counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Diaz looking to control.
Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sartre is aware though and is defending well. Sartre postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Diaz looking for subs off his back but Sartre has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sartre trying to control from half guard but Diaz is working away. Diaz is looking for a sweep. Sartre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sartre thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diaz's head. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sartre throws an elbow that misses. Diaz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sartre's guard. Nice move by Diaz!

Diaz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sartre defends well. Diaz is controlling Sartre's posture.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Sartre wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Sartre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sartre closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Diaz's guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sartre sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Diaz doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Sartre paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Diaz - great work!
