Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Riku Momomoto (ranked 243 p4p, 2178 weight class) and Jacob Hopson (ranked 31 p4p, 242 weight class). Hopson has chosen Down Under as his entrance music. Jacob Hopson has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Riku Momomoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacob Hopson! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Momomoto misses and Hopson counters with a good low kick that Momomoto was not able to check. Good work by Momomoto as he checks the leg kick. Momomoto swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Momomoto swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little jabbing left from Hopson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Hopson works the jab nicely. Momomoto swings widly with a right hand
and Hopson counters with a slapping leg kick. Hopson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hopson throws a quick inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Momomoto moves away from the strike by Hopson. Momomoto was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Hopson looks to land a left hand but Momomoto moved out of range nicely. Hopson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hopson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Momomoto. Momomoto is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

and Hopson counters with a nice leg kick. Momomoto on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Momomoto takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hopson throws a jab when Momomoto was well out of range. Momomoto throwing a counter right hand but Hopson manages to avoid it. Hopson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Momomoto stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hopson throws a body punch but Momomoto moves out of range. Momomoto is looking to counter punch. Hopson with the inside leg kick. Hopson misses with an uppercut. Momomoto saw that one coming. Momomoto throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hopson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Momomoto thinking. Hopson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. A little feinted left hand from Momomoto on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hopson misses with a low kick. Momomoto jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hopson with a hook. Nice body kick from Hopson. Hopson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Momomoto momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Momomoto fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A chopping leg kick lands by Hopson. Momomoto feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hopsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
It looks like Jacob Hopson has been cut. Hopson misses with a wild body shot. Hopson misses with a leg kick. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jacob Hopson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jacob Hopson's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Momomoto needs to keep his hands up - Hopson had a free shot at his head there. Hopson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Momomoto is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Nice shot lands for Momomoto. Hopson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. A looping hook to the body misses from Momomoto. Hopson does a little dance to reset his feet. Momomoto takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Momomoto swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hopson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Hopson thows a leg kick but Momomoto checks it and Momomoto counters with a lead uppercut that lands right on the button! Hopson goes down! Will Hopson beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's up! No problem. Let's get back to the action!
Hopson is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Momomoto takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Momomoto has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hopson finds it's way round the side to connect with Momomoto's head. Hopson tried to score with a low kick but Momomoto checks it. Momomoto throwing a counter right hand but Hopson manages to avoid it.

A swing and a miss from Hopson. Momomoto appears to be looking for a big counter. Momomoto looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hopson looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Momomoto has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hopson. Hopson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hopson throws an overhand right that lands on Momomoto's shoulder, as Momomoto tries to avoid the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hopson thumps Momomoto with a low kick. Jacob Hopson seems to be getting the better of the standup. Hopson scores with a leg kick.
Hopson dips to his left and cracks Momomoto with an uppercut! Jab by Hopson. A nice leg kick from Hopson, right into the meat of the thigh.
A jab lands there for Momomoto. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hopson throws a lazy uppercut
and Momomoto counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Hopson is still on wobbly legs! Can Momomoto finish him? Momomoto checks a leg kick. Hopson seems to have recovered his senses. Hopson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A shot to the liver by Hopson. Beautiful body shot. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Riku Momomoto will take that round after scoring the only knockdown of the round. The cut man is working on Jacob Hopson's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Momomoto takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Riku Momomoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hopson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Momomoto is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. The fighters circling - Momomoto throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hopson takes a swing at Momomoto's ribcage but misses. Hopson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hopson explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Hopson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Momomoto's head backwards. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Momomoto uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hopson. Momomoto throws a big counter combination but Hopson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Hopson misses with a hook
and Momomoto cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Hopson motions for Momomoto to come forward. Hopson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hopson lunges at Momomoto with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Momomoto's hand. Hopson misses with a looping right. Hopson is looking to slow Momomoto down with leg kicks. Momomoto throws a hook but Hopson blocks it. Jacob Hopson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Momomoto lands a nice looking body shot.
Momomoto gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hopson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Momomoto. Momomoto blocks a jab. Momomoto drops a shoulder and throws a biiiig uppercut that drops Hopson onto his butt! Hopson pops straight back to his feet to convince the referee that he's OK to continue.
That has opened up Jacob Hopson's cut even more. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Momomoto throws an off balance right hand
and Hopson counters with a nice body shot.

and Hopson counters with a nice leg kick. Momomoto slips under a jab from Hopson. Hopson misses with a low kick. A punch combination from Momomoto misses. Hopson flicks out a counter leg kick but Momomoto steps away. Momomoto doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Hopson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Momomoto's sensitive parts. Hopson throws a nice inside leg kick. Momomoto cracks Hopson with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Hopson is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Hopson is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine! The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hopson lands an overhand right. Hopson misses the shot to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Riku Momomoto showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hopson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
