Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kawainui Perry (ranked 142 p4p, 187 weight class) and Ian Carter (ranked 19 p4p, 26 weight class). Carter comes into a darkened arena with his song building. “Shipping up to Boston” Dropkick Murphy’s kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kawainui Perry! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Carter! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perry thuds his shin into the meat of Carter's side. Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Carter pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Perry back to the cage. Carter follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Kawainui Perry has been cut. Carter throws a right hand that misses
and Perry counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Ian Carter has been cut. Perry lands a head kick!
Carter throws a jab when Perry was well out of range. Carter scores with a one two! Perry had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Perry takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Perry misses with an uppercut
and Carter counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Carter works the jab nicely. Perry swings for the body but Carter moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perry blocks a jab. Perry connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Perry cracks Carter with a right hand to the side of the head. Carter thows a left - swing and a miss! Carter throws a lazy right hand but Perry sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Carter closes the distance and pushes Perry back into the cage. Carter misses with the head strike.
Perry pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Perry lands a hook to the side of the head. Perry lands a body shot. A short uppercut from Carter. Carter misses with a hook from the clinch. Carter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Carter drops his hands momentarily and Perry takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Perry looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Perry lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Perry throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Perry tries to work over Carter's front leg with a kick but Carter checks it. Nice uppercut there from Carter. Perry takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. A chopping leg kick lands by Carter. Carter takes a shot right to the bread basket. Perry fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Carter misses with a hook
and Perry counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter throws a series of punches but Perry avoids them all with ease. Perry appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Perry thows a left - swing and a miss! A nice inside leg kick there by Perry. That's going to slow Carter down. Carter takes a swing at Perry's ribcage but misses. A low kick lands for Perry.
A jab from Perry misses. Perry misses with a right hand and Carter counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Perry misses with a looping right. Carter throws a nice looking combination but Perry bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Carter tests Perry's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perry scores with a leg kick.
Carter moves into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Perry lands an elbow just above Carter 's eye.
That has opened up Ian Carter's cut even more. Carter misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Carter lands with a short shot to the head. Perry swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Perry prevents a body shot from Carter. Carter throws a punch but it's blocked by Perry. A right hand to the body from Perry.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Carter. Perry tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Perry presses Carter against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Perry misses with a hook to the ribs.
Carter misses with a hook from the clinch. Perry misses with an elbow over the top. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ian Carter will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. A chopping leg kick lands by Perry. Carter throws a looping overhand right but Perry ducks down to avoid it. Perry throws a quick counter head kick but Carter was just out of range. Carter misses with a two punch combination.
Perry takes a swing at Carter's ribcage but misses. Carter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Jab by Perry. Perry throws a low kick but Carter avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter scores with a jab to the body. Carter avoids a kick to the body.
Carter wants to counter the offense by Perry and move into the clinch position. Perry misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perry throws a lazy uppercut
letting Carter counter with a right hand. Perry pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Carter is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Perry with a body shot. A jab from Carter misses. Carter clinches with his opponent.
Carter lands with a left to the head. Perry lands a nice elbow. Perry works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Perry lands with a light punch inside. Carter is breathing heavily. Perry tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Carter misses with a short punch on the inside. Carter lands a nice shot to the body. Perry lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
The cut above Ian Carter's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Perry lands with a left to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Perry lands a left hand.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Perry just misses with a elbow thrown towards Carter's brow. Carter throws a head punch that misses. Perry blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Ian Carter's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ian Carter's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
