Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Thorgard (ranked 968 p4p, 1031 weight class) and Vladymyr Kersikov (ranked 120 p4p, 130 weight class). Kersikov has chosen TheFatRat & Riell - Hiding in the Blue as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Vladymyr Kersikov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Magnus Thorgard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladymyr Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good leg kick by Kersikov. Magnus Thorgard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thorgard lunges at Kersikov with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kersikov's hand. Nice body punch from Thorgard. Kersikov throws a predictable looking body shot
and Thorgard makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Kersikov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Thorgard. Kersikov feints a counter leg kick. Thorgard thuds a left hand into Kersikov's body. Kersikov slips a straight right by Thorgard. Thorgard misses with a wild body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thorgard tries for a takedown but Kersikov circles away easily and Kersikov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Thorgard connects with a single shot there. Thorgard throws a lazy uppercut
and Kersikov counters with a slapping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thorgard lands a jab. We've been hearing reports that Thorgard has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Vladymyr Kersikov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kersikov scores with a shot to the body.
Thorgard throws an overhand right that lands on Kersikov's shoulder, as Kersikov tries to avoid the shot. Kersikov throws out a counter right but Thorgard avoids it with no problem. Excellent takedown into side control there by Thorgard. Thorgard lands some shots froms side control. Thorgard tries for a kimura but Kersikov is defending well. Thorgard wants to control but Kersikov is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kersikov manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! This has been an exciting period of action! Kersikov trying to control from half guard but Thorgard is working away. Kersikov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kersikov is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Thorgard manages to get to full guard. Kersikov trying to control the position from guard on top but Thorgard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kersikov wanted to stand there but Thorgard had control of the position. Thorgard pulls Kersikov in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kersikov throws a big elbow that misses. Thorgard is trying to control the position but Kersikov postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kersikov trying to control but Thorgard is working from the bottom. Thorgard pulls Kersikov in to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thorgard looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kersikov has picked Thorgard up and slammed him! Thorgard can't keep hold of the triangle and Kersikov manages to pass to side control! Thorgard is looking to regain half guard here but Kersikov keeps moving and retains side control. Thorgard wants to control but Kersikov postures up. Kersikov stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thorgard throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kersikov sees it coming and avoids it easily. Kersikov moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. A big right from Thorgard misses. Thorgard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kersikov.
A slow jab from Kersikov misses its intended target. Thorgard has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kersikov finds it's way round the side to connect with Thorgard's head. Kersikov throws a leg kick and Thorgard counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thorgard winds up and cracks Kersikov with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kersikov looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Thorgard wants to control but Kersikov is keeping him busy. Thorgard working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Thorgard working the head and body with strikes. Kersikov gets full guard. Thorgard postures up.
Kersikov has control of Thorgard's left arm, preventing Thorgard from doing any damage. Thorgard trying to control but Kersikov is working from the bottom.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Thorgard stopping the sweep attempt from Kersikov. Kersikov pulls Thorgard in to control the position. Thorgard scoring with some ground and pound. Thorgard distracts Kersikov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Thorgard trying to control the position from guard on top but Kersikov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thorgard advances position into side control!
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Thorgard lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kersikov down.
Kersikov tries to improve position but can't. Thorgard controls the position from side control. Thorgard working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kersikov gets back to half guard. Kersikov is looking for a sweep. Thorgard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thorgard connects with a nice short shot to Kersikov's temple.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Thorgard thows a huge punch but Kersikov dodges it nicely.
Kersikov is trying to get back to full guard. Thorgard is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Kersikov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Thorgard working away from the top, dropping strikes. Thorgard lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
It looks like Vladymyr Kersikov has been cut. Thorgard with shots to the head and body - Kersikov looks very uncomfortable down there. Thorgard working the ground and pound effectively.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. A big strike lands for Thorgard! That's really hurt Kersikov and he's turned his back - Thorgard keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Thorgard jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
