Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 843 p4p, 2869 weight class) and Dan Averescu (ranked 115 p4p, 342 weight class). Anderson comes into the arena with Pick up man blaring out of the sound system. Averescu has chosen Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 41 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 27 - 42 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Averescu! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Averescu takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Anderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Averescu looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Anderson looks to score with a jab to the body but Averescu is just out of range. Averescu staying out of range there. Averescu throws out a counter right but Anderson avoids it with no problem. Anderson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Anderson gets to mount! Averescu was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Anderson has hold of Averescu's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Averescu manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Anderson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Averescu has worked his arm free - good work by Averescu!
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Averescu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Anderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Anderson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Averescu tries to improve position but can't. Anderson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Averescu is looking to reverse the position. Anderson trying to control the position but Averescu is working away. Anderson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Averescu has escaped the position, nice work there. Averescu is trying to escape the position but Anderson is controlling the position. Anderson advances nicely into full mount. Averescu wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Averescu is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Anderson off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Averescu tries to roll but Anderson sticks to his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Averescu keeps trying to improve his position. Anderson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Averescu defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Anderson is hanging on to Averescu's back as he tries to escape.

Averescu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Anderson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Averescu has managed to get both his arms back between Anderson's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Averescu postures up.
Averescu wants to stand and escape but instead Anderson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Sparky Anderson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Anderson is looking to clinch. Anderson has Averescu up against the cage in a clinch.
Anderson can't find room to land a body shot as Averescu controls the action.
Averescu is defending well against a takedown attempt. Anderson has Averescu pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Averescu manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Anderson wants the takedown. Averescu is fighting it off but Anderson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Averescu's guard against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Averescu can't keep his opponent in guard - Anderson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Averescu looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Averescu is staying active underneath Anderson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Anderson passes the guard and advances to mount! Anderson wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Anderson trying to control but Averescu is having none of it. Anderson is working for a guillotine from mount but Averescu frees his head quite easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson controlling from mount. Anderson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Averescu to take his back! Averescu is trying to stand back up. Anderson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Averescu knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Averescu for a finish. Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Averescu can do to turn this around?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Anderson working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Averescu is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Anderson has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Averescu taps out!
