Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Robson (ranked 58 p4p, 113 weight class) and Richard Mesquita (ranked 7 p4p, 13 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oliver Robson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Mesquita!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Mesquita misses with a right hand
and Robson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mesquita throws a right hand that misses
and Robson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Robson throws a shot from downtown. Mesquita moves away and avoids it.
A nice side step and Mesquita releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Robson looks to throw the jab but Mesquita is out of range.
Mesquita has his takedown stuffed
and Mesquita takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Robson gets caught napping as Mesquita dives in and scores a takedown. Robson manages to retain guard.
Robson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Mesquita postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Robson has Mesquita pulled in close to control his posture.

Mesquita throws an elbow that misses. Robson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mesquita's guard. Nice move by Robson!
Robson is posturing up here but Mesquita has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Robson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Robson has to tap! Slick submission there by Mesquita!
