PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Blonde Brunson (ranked 2221 p4p, 1144 weight class) and Isaac Keys (ranked 137 p4p, 83 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blonde Brunson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Isaac Keys!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brunson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Brunson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Keys scores with a head kick. Brunson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Keys slaps away a takedown attempt from Brunson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Keys is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Brunson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Brunson.
Brunson shoots in for a double leg but Keys sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Keys wants to counter with a clinch but Brunson pushes him away.
Brunson shoots in looking for a takedown. Keys tries to sprawl out of it but Brunson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Keys manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Keys controls Brunson momentarily but Brunson frees himself.
Keys is pulling down on Brunson's head to control his posture.

Brunson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Brunson ducks under a wild hook from Keys.
Brunson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Keys manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Brunson closes the distance and clinches up with Keys, looking for a takedown. Brunson pushes Keys against the cage but Keys circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Keys throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Brunson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Brunson throwing strikes but Keys manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Keys tries to stand but Brunson is controlling his head.
You can see the frustration on Brunson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Brunson gets back to half guard.
Keys looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brunson is trying to get back to full guard.
Keys seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brunson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Brunson is looking for a sweep. Keys is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Keys content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Keys wants to stand but Brunson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Brunson is staying active underneath Keys, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Brunson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Keys pulls his head out easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brunson wants to get back to full guard.

Keys takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Keys seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brunson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Keys is looking to advance position but Brunson won't allow it.
Keys is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brunson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Keys sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brunson somewhat.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Keys is pushing Brunson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Keys is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brunson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Keys to the mat. Keys regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Brunson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Keys swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brunson closes the distance but Keys moves to the side
and Brunson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Keys tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A nice leg kick lands there from Keys.
