With a record of 14 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Virgulino Ferreira Da Silva!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira Da Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Ferreira Da Silva pushes Veainu up against the cage in a clinch.
Veainu lands a hook that snaps the head of Ferreira Da Silva backwards.
Veainu blocks an uppercut.
I was talking to Veainu's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Veainu creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Ferreira Da Silva is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Virgulino Ferreira Da Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Veainu comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Veainu counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Veainu cracks Ferreira Da Silva with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Veainu has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Ferreira Da Silva to stand back up!

Veainu closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Ferreira Da Silva out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
