Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brad Pfanne! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 47 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Javier Martinez! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martinez drives through and clinches with Pfanne against the cage.
Martinez will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Pfanne up against the cage. Martinez slows down the pace here.
Martinez displaying some good clinch control by pressing Pfanne up against the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martinez is struggling to control the position. Martinez continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Javier Martinez. Pfanne tries to keep at a distance but Martinez has taken the fight into the clinch. Pfanne is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Pfanne looking for a takedown. Martinez prevents a takedown attempt there.

Pfanne turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pfanne manages to end up in side control. Martinez is looking to reverse the position. Pfanne working away. Martinez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Martinez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez trying his best to control but Pfanne has mounted him. Martinez working to try and regain half guard.
We've been hearing that Pfanne has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Martinez keeps trying to improve his position. Pfanne looking to control but Martinez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Martinez is in a horrible position here. Pfanne smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Martinez is rocked! Martinez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Martinez is still in real trouble! Can Pfanne finish him? Martinez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. A big strike lands for Pfanne! That's really hurt Martinez and he's turned his back - Pfanne keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Pfanne jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brad Pfanne! Brad Pfanne retains his middleweight title! During a confident post fight interview, Brad Pfanne thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
