Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Spas Ganikov (ranked 3686 p4p, 3217 weight class) and Alfred Shipley (ranked 378 p4p, 343 weight class). Spas Ganikov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Alfred Shipley's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spas Ganikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alfred Shipley!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Shipley lands.
Shipley cracks a nice hook into Ganikov's ribs.
Ganikov shoots in looking for a takedown. Shipley tries to sprawl out of it but Ganikov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shipley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shipley listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Ganikov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shipley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ganikov somewhat.
Shipley is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Shipley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ganikov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Shipley ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Alfred Shipley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ganikov doesn't manage to clinch there - Shipley circles away.

Shipley sizes up Ganikov with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

and Shipley counters with a three punch combo that has Ganikov backing up. Ganikov nods at Shipley to acknowledge the strikes.

Shipley ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Shipley fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ganikov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shipley lands with a nice body punch.
Ganikov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shipley.
Ganikov tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Shipley counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Shipley lands the left hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shipley looks to land a combination. Ganikov sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Ganikov shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Ganikov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shipley avoids it really well and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shipley misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ganikov.
Shipley is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ganikov rather than just go for the knockout.
Ganikov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Shipley thows a left - swing and a miss!

Nice takedown defense from Shipley. No joy for Ganikov on that attempt.
Shipley uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ganikov has time to react.

and Shipley counters with a huge right that knocks Ganikov out cold! Shipley is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!
