Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paulo Kogos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kullo Kross!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kogos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kross tries to avoid it but Kogos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kross to the ground. Kross escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kross has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kogos moves in looking to clinch but Kross pushes him off.
Kross moves out of range as Kogos strikes.
Kogos goes for a double leg but Kross avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kross continues to drive forward.
It seemed like Kross was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kross tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kogos avoids it.
Kogos misses with a hook from the clinch.
I was talking to Kogos's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Kross pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kogos is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kross's half guard.

Kross has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kogos is on him like a limpet, forcing Kross back against the cage.
Kogos trying to land knees to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kogos missing with knees to the body.
Kogos avoiding damage as Kross throws knees to the body.
Kogos tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Kross's elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kross scores with a shot to the side of Kogos's head.
Kross fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kross is trying to force a seperation but Kogos has the dominant position.
Kross lands a hook that snaps the head of Kogos backwards.
Kross wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kogos is working for takedown but Kross is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulo Kogos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kross breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kogos walks into a stiff left hand from Kross.

It looks like Paulo Kogos has been cut.
Kross cracks Kogos with a right hand to the side of the head.
Kross lands a big right hook! Kogos looks hurt but is still standing! Kross lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Kogos falls down and Kross dives in with a huge hammer fist! Kogos's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Kross runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Kullo Kross!
Our winner, Kullo Kross, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
