Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Surkho Dratchev (ranked 1302 p4p, 1501 weight class) and Wanderlei Rua (ranked 170 p4p, 188 weight class). Dratchev comes to the cage accompanied by Schweine by Glukoza Nostra. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua connects with the punch.

Rua throws an overhand right that lands on Dratchev's shoulder, as Dratchev tries to avoid the shot.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Dratchev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Rua uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dratchev.

Rua throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Rua throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Dratchev scores with a jab to the jaw.

That has opened up Wanderlei Rua's cut even more.
Rua misses with an uppercut. Dratchev saw that one coming.
Dratchev throws a quick counter head kick but Rua was just out of range.
Dratchev closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Rua misses with a hook.
Rua waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dratchev.
Dratchev connects with an inside leg kick.
Rua misses the jab.
Dratchev drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rua sprawls and moves away.
Rua needs to keep his hands up - Dratchev had a free shot at his head there.
Wanderlei Rua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dratchev drops Rua with a big left hand and mounts him. Rua is in big trouble!

Rua is rocked!

Dratchev has control of Rua's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rua regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rua is still in real trouble! Can Dratchev finish him?
Dratchev postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Rua in real trouble here! The ref calls for Rua to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Surkho Dratchev!
During a confident post fight interview, Surkho Dratchev thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
