Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James River (ranked 292 p4p, 255 weight class) and Ricky Greene (ranked 24 p4p, 20 weight class). Greene has chosen Stepdad- Eminem as his entrance music. Ricky Greene has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, James River !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 21 - 1, fighting out of London, Ricky Greene!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Greene changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Greene steps to the side to avoid the strikes from River .
River throws a right hand that misses

and Greene counters with a shoot takedown. River fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
River is pulling down on Greene's head. It's preventing any offense from Greene, at least for the moment.
River is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
River will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Greene seems to be looking for submissions.
River wants to improve his position but Greene is controlling well.

Greene is trying to work for a kimura but River is defending well.
Greene is thwarting River 's attempts to control the position.

Greene is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so River is just riding it out for now. Greene eventually gives up the hold.

River moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Greene got a little sloppy there for a moment and River has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Greene has managed to get both his arms back between River 's legs - danger averted.

River has his foot on Greene's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Greene works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Greene looking for a guillotine here but River defends easily.

Greene has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but River can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

River fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Greene, pushing him back against the cage.

Greene ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Greene no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Greene regains half guard there - taking advantage of River 's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
River is looking to advance position but Greene won't allow it.

River is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Greene felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
River wants to control but Greene is keeping him busy.

Greene might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control River haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Greene punishes River 's body with a nice straight punch.
River ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Greene moves away.
Greene feints the counter takedown.

Greene shoots in and drives through. River sprawls well.
A little feinted left hand from River on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

and River counters with a stiff right hand.

River throws a series of punches but Greene avoids them all with ease.

River throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Greene looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
