Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Cross (ranked 1235 p4p, 1269 weight class) and Mike Boomer (ranked 155 p4p, 159 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cross might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Irregular God. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Cross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Boomer! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boomer tries a head kick but it misses.
Cross tries to keep at a distance but Boomer has taken the fight into the clinch. Cross goes for a takedown attempt but Boomer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Cross looks for a takedown but Boomer sprawls well. Boomer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cross paws at him with a jab and circles away. Boomer throws out a powerful jab. Boomer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cross looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Boomer swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Cross. We've been informed that Boomer has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. A combination from Boomer does no damage. Cross goes for a double leg but Boomer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Boomer continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Cross. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boomer stalls. Boomer is defending well against a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boomer is defending well against a takedown attempt. Boomer lands on the inside with an uppercut. Boomer is defending well against a takedown attempt. Cross is looking for a takedown. Cross takes a knee to the side of the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Boomer lands an elbow inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boomer creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Cross's defenses.
It looks like Simon Cross has been cut. Boomer lands an elbow that stopped Cross in his tracks for a moment. Boomer stops a takedown attempt from Cross.

Boomer is pressed up against the cage. Cross has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Boomer down to the mat. Boomer avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Cross shoots in for a takedown but Boomer shows good takedown defense. Cross is breathing heavily. Whack! Boomer lands a heavy head kick that drops Cross. The ref tackles Boomer to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Cross was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Mike Boomer! Mike Boomer decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
