Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Temmu Pukki (ranked 2367 p4p, 1541 weight class) and Jeff Jefferson (ranked 297 p4p, 197 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Temmu Pukki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeff Jefferson! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jefferson takes one to the side of the head.
Jefferson throws a poor cross that misses
and Pukki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jefferson takes a swing at Pukki's ribcage but misses. Jefferson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jefferson scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Pukki throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Jefferson counters with a stiff right hand. Pukki throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jefferson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Pukki misses with a looping left. Jefferson misses the jab. Jefferson avoids the body shot from Pukki.
Jefferson throws a counter combo. We've been told by Pukki's head coaches at The Tank Factory that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Jefferson throws a quick inside leg kick. Jefferson ducks under a wild hook from Pukki. Jefferson lands a right hook to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jefferson misses with a hook to the body
and Pukki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Pukki misses with a hook to the body
and Jefferson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Pukki throws a hook but Jefferson blocks it. Jefferson slips a straight right by Pukki. Pukki shoots in and gets a takedown into Jefferson's guard. Pukki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pukki trying to control the position from guard on top but Jefferson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jefferson wants to stand and escape but Pukki is having none of it. Pukki advances to half guard. Pukki wants to advance to full mount but Jefferson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Jefferson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pukki is controlling him. Pukki passes Jefferson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Jefferson pushes Pukki off but Pukki dives into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pukki wants to control but Jefferson is keeping him busy. Pukki is trying to get an arm triangle but Jefferson is defending well. Pukki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jefferson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pukki has an Americana. Jefferson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Pukki is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Pukki hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Temmu Pukki!
