Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Archer (ranked 1179 p4p, 1435 weight class) and Kato Maluga (ranked 151 p4p, 191 weight class). Archer's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Slipknot - Don't Get Close. Maluga is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: IN MY CITY. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Archer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kato Maluga! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maluga connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. We've been hearing reports that Archer has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A solid leg kick lands there for Maluga.
Jab by Archer. Archer shoots in but no luck this time. Maluga counters with a body kick. Maluga throws a body punch but Archer moves out of range. Archer attempts a counter takedown but Maluga avoids it well and moves away. Archer blocks a head kick by Maluga.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maluga takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Maluga keeping full guard, as Archer tries to pass. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maluga can do anything to dispel that myth. Archer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Archer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Archer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Archer trying to control the position from guard on top but Maluga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Archer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Archer misses with a low kick.
Maluga misses with a straight left. Archer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Maluga. Maluga lands a leg kick that knocks Archer off balance momentarily. Maluga ducks right into an uppercut from Archer.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Archer swings widly with a right hand
and Maluga counters with a nice leg kick. Archer scores with a body shot.
Archer throws a low kick, looking for Maluga's leg but Maluga calmly moves out of range. Archer dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nice uppercut lands for Maluga. That snapped Archer's head back.
Archer doesn't manage to clinch there - Maluga circles away.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Maluga takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Maluga misses with a leg kick. Archer throws a lazy right hand but Maluga sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Archer misses with a body punch
and Maluga finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Archer lands an overhand right. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Archer lands with a right hand. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Maluga pushing out the jab but it's not landing. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Maluga throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Archer misses with a kick to the body enabling Maluga to counter with a crisp jab. Jonathan Archer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maluga scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Archer dips to his left and cracks Maluga with an uppercut! Archer is looking to clinch but Maluga is avoiding it.
Maluga looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Archer tries to clinch but Maluga moves away and Maluga counters with a nice uppercut. Maluga's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Archer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Maluga scrambles back to his feet.

Maluga throws out a counter right but Archer avoids it with no problem. Archer throws a jab but it's blocked by Maluga. Maluga let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Maluga keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Archer rushes Maluga and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Maluga has a couple of punches blocked by Archer.
Archer lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Archer gets control of Maluga's arms and successfully pulls guard. Archer will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Archer is adopting a defensive guard. Archer has a closed guard, preventing Maluga from standing up.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Archer working a defensive guard here.

 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Archer misses with a lunging right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Archer will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Maluga throws a leg kick that is checked and Archer counters with a good low kick that Maluga was not able to check. Maluga throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Archer feinted with a counter takedown. Maluga lands a nice looking kick to the body. Archer takes a step back to recover. Archer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maluga.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Archer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Archer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Maluga has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Archer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Archer jabs at Maluga's body. Archer lands with a nice body kick. Archer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Maluga is trying to counter with his kicks.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as Archer blocks the leg kick.
It looked like Archer wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Archer scores with a nice right hand.
Maluga looks for the body kick but Archer saw that one coming.
Archer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Maluga is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Archer is defending well for now. Maluga is trying to break the clinch but Archer has him pressed against the cage. A right handed body shot lands from Maluga.

Archer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Maluga checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Maluga looks like he wants to counter punch here.
And that's the end of the fight! Kato Maluga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Archer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
