Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Serta Mierta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bambam Yagan!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mierta pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yagan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Mierta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mierta misses with an uppercut. Yagan saw that one coming.
Mierta misses the jab.
Yagan throws out a counter right but Mierta avoids it with no problem.
Mierta looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
A little jabbing left from Yagan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A head kick misses from Mierta.
Mierta lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mierta waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Yagan.
Yagan now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mierta lands a really nice looking cross but Yagan seems unphased.
Mierta uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Yagan has time to react.
Mierta comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Mierta tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yagan was well out of range. Poor timing from Mierta.
Yagan looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mierta slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Mierta misses with an uppercut. Yagan saw that one coming.
Mierta gets a clinch.
Yagan wants to get back to striking at distance but Mierta won't allow it.
Mierta lands with a right to the head.
Mierta jumps into guard, dragging Yagan to the mat.
Yagan wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Mierta's closed guard. He's half up but Mierta has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Mierta pivots and extends the arm, Yagan falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Mierta! Well done that man!
