Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Paulson (ranked 931 p4p, 1332 weight class) and Rokken Roll (ranked 106 p4p, 149 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Jake Paulson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 27 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rokken Roll! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roll throws a big shot that misses. Paulson looks to land a combination but Roll avoids it well. Roll connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Roll connects with a single shot there. Paulson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Roll lands with a kick to the ribs.
Paulson gets caught napping as Roll dives in and scores a takedown. Paulson manages to retain guard. Roll pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Paulson is keeping the position for now. Roll being controlled here momentarily.
Roll is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Roll prevents Paulson from getting back to his feet. Paulson keeping moving, preventing Roll from controlling successfully.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Roll stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paulson swivels though and keeps the full guard.  The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Roll tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Paulson was well out of range. Poor timing from Roll. Paulson avoids the head kick by Roll.
Roll throws a hook but Paulson avoids it easily. Paulson is looking to counter the offense by Roll and move into the clinch. Roll delivers a nice body kick. Roll looks to land a right hand but Paulson moved out of range. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Roll has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Roll throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Paulson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roll is in Paulson's guard.
Paulson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Roll is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Roll looking for a takedown. Roll lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Roll working some nice short punches in the clinch. Paulson lands a shoulder strike. Paulson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Roll has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Roll dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Paulson. That did some damage! Roll keeps the fight on the outside. Paulson slips a jab from Roll. Paulson tries to counter by clinching up but Roll breaks away and moves out of range. Roll lands with a thumping leg kick.
Paulson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Paulson staying out of range there. Roll throws a leg kick but Paulson sees it coming and moves out of range.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Paulson slips under a jab. The crowd cheers as Paulson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Roll doesn't seem phased though.

Paulson kicks off Roll and gets to his feet. Rokken Roll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice shot lands for Paulson. Good work by Paulson as he checks the leg kick. Roll looks to land a right hand but Paulson moved out of range. As Roll looks to move away, Paulson throws a big counter combo but Roll just gets out of the way. Jake Paulson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Paulson connects with a leg kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paulson throws a hook to the side of Roll's head but Roll sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Roll feints the counter takedown. Roll throws a leg kick

Paulson throws a right hand that Roll ducks under and follows up with a left that Roll also avoids with ease. Roll scores with a kick to the midsection. Roll looks to land a body kick but Paulson moved away. Roll connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Roll looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Paulson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Paulson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Nice defenses there by Paulson. Roll moves out of range as Paulson strikes. Roll jabbing away but nothing is landing. Paulson seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Roll throws a right hand that misses
and Paulson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Paulson. Roll wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Roll is trying to break the clinch but Paulson is controlling him. Paulson tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Roll tries to pull guard but Paulson holds him up against the cage and eventually Roll drops back down to his feet.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Roll. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Rokken Roll will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Roll looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Roll uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Paulson has time to react. Some wild striking there from Paulson.
Roll throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Roll thumps Paulson with a low kick. Roll scoring well with a low kick there.
Roll connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Paulson defending well as Roll loads up on a big left hand. Paulson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roll.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roll throws a nice inside leg kick. Paulson throws a sloppy head kick and Roll moves out of range easily. Paulson ducks under a wild hook from Roll. Paulson has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Roll misses with an uppercut. Paulson saw that one coming. Paulson is looking to counter with a body kick. Paulson throws a right hand that Roll ducks under and follows up with a left that Roll also avoids with ease.

Roll is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paulson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Paulson gets back to half guard. Roll prevents Paulson from standing back up.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Paulson is trying to stand up here but Roll is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paulson is not content to let Roll control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roll might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Paulson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Paulson is holding on to half guard well.

Paulson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Paulson there as he acknowledges the shot. Roll waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Paulson. Roll attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Roll throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Paulson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Paulson is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Nice jab there from Paulson. Roll ducks under a wild hook from Paulson. Paulson tries to move into range but Roll moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Roll throws a solid leg kick but Paulson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Roll. Roll throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Paulson throws a head kick that misses. Roll is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. A jab from Roll finds it's way through Paulson's defenses. Roll getting the better of the striking in that exchange. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Roll looks to throw the jab but Paulson is out of range. Rokken Roll seems to be getting the better of the standup. Paulson misses with a double jab.

Rokken Roll showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Roll dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Paulson. That did some damage! Roll connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.  That's two minutes gone in the round. Roll turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. A big left from Paulson misses. Roll is looking to land body kicks. A nice inside leg kick there by Roll. That's going to slow Paulson down. Roll darts in looking for a takedown but Paulson gets double underhooks and turns Roll into the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A low kick from Roll is predictable there and Paulson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Roll misses with an uppercut. Paulson saw that one coming. Paulson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Roll slips under a jab from Paulson. A slapping leg kick lands for Roll.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Roll throws the kick towards the body but Paulson avoids it. Paulson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Roll's head. Roll fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Paulson is out of range. Paulson misses with a hook. Roll ducked under it nicely. Roll throws a low kick but Paulson moves out of range easily. Roll throws a body kick that misses. Paulson throws the left hand but Roll avoids the punch easily. Roll tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Roll throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Paulson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Paulson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Roll swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jake Paulson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Roll connects with a looping right hand.

Paulson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Roll checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Paulson clobbers Roll with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Roll drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Paulson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Paulson is looking to control Roll's arms but Roll gets an underhook and turns him. Now Paulson has his back to the cage. Roll blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Paulson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Roll is keeping busy. Paulson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Roll's efforts to push away. Paulson tries a knee to the head but Roll blocks it.

Roll has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Paulson uses from the top position.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Paulson. I think Roll has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
