Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ian Carter (ranked 214 p4p, 351 weight class) and Jesse Thomas Babcock (ranked 28 p4p, 41 weight class). Carter's entrance music is “Shipping up to Boston” Dropkick Murphy’s. A fine choice. Babcock has chosen 70 as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Carter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesse Thomas Babcock!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Babcock closes the distance and clinches.
Carter swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Carter digs a right hand underneath Babcock's ribcage. Babcock let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Carter misses with a punch to the body.
Carter blocks a body shot from Babcock.
Carter lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Babcock.
A head punch on the inside from Carter fails to land.
Carter lands an uppercut.
Nice body punch from Babcock - that landed with a thud.
Carter lands a left hand that snaps the head of Babcock backwards.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Carter creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Carter gets through Babcock's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Carter can't find room to land a body shot as Babcock controls the action.
Carter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Babcock blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Babcock has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Carter works on Babcock's body with a couple of short punches.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Babcock has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Carter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've been told by Carter's head coaches at Ironbound MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Carter struggles to land a body shot inside as Babcock controls his hands.

Babcock drags the fight down to the ground.
Carter wants to stand but Babcock has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Babcock wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Babcock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carter's guard.

Carter has momentary wrist control but Babcock slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Babcock lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Babcock postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Carter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Babcock is trying to maintain the position but Carter is very close to passing his half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carter wants to control from the top but Babcock keeps moving.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Babcock lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Babcock postures up in Carter's guard and throws a big left but Carter blocks it.

Babcock passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Carter is looking for a sweep.
Carter takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Carter takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Carter is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Babcock not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Carter pushes Babcock off looking to stand but Babcock dives back in and keeps control.
Babcock is nestled in close to Carter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jesse Thomas Babcock will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Carter stuffs the takedown attempt from Babcock. Babcock gets slowly back to his feet.

Carter moves out of range as Babcock strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Babcock tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Babcock throws a lazy uppercut
and Carter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ian Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Babcock thuds a left hand into Carter's body.
Babcock scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Babcock tries to bum rush Carter with a series of wild strikes but Carter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Carter sizes up Babcock with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Babcock shoots in looking for a takedown but Carter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Babcock's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

It looked like Carter was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Babcock.
Babcock stalks Carter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Carter's face. Carter staggers backwards, shaken.

Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Babcock circles away quickly and effectively.

Babcock tries to clinch there but Carter circles away.
A little feinted left hand from Carter on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Babcock misses with a body punch
and Carter counters with a nice uppercut.

Babcock shoots in and bounces Carter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Carter counters with a crisp right hand that drops Babcock! Carter lets Babcock back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

It looks like Jesse Thomas Babcock has been cut.
Carter throws an overhand right that lands on Babcock's shoulder, as Babcock tries to avoid the shot.
Babcock is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

and Carter counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!
