Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yasol Kim (ranked 1125 p4p, 1255 weight class) and Marc Horton (ranked 118 p4p, 131 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marc Horton!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Horton shoots in but no luck this time.
Kim tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Horton manages to circle out of the way.

and Horton counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Horton lands a couple of elbows.
Kim has control of Horton's left arm, preventing Horton from doing any damage.
Kim is looking to sweep but instead, Horton has passed into half guard.

Horton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horton is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Horton wants to pass to mount but Kim is defending the position.

Horton throws a strike but Kim avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Horton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kim doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kim manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kim got a little sloppy there for a moment and Horton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kim has managed to get both his arms back between Horton's legs - danger averted.

Horton has his foot on Kim's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kim works his way back into a safe position though.

It looked like Kim was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Horton.

I was talking to Kim's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Nice body punch from Kim - that landed with a thud.
Kim's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Kim can't find room to land a body shot as Horton controls the action.
Horton digs a right hand underneath Kim's ribcage. Kim let out a lung full of air as it connected.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kim lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Horton backwards.
Kim tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kim misses with some punches.
Kim swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kim is pressed up against the cage. Horton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kim down to the mat. Kim avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Horton bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kim's head.

Donk. Horton catches Kim right on the button with a cross.

Kim was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Horton looks for the body kick but Kim saw that one coming.

Horton drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kim defends it well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Horton is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Kim is looking for a sweep. Horton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Horton is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Kim as he works his way to full guard.
Horton throws an elbow that misses. Kim uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Horton's guard. Nice move by Kim!

That was a close second round but I would say that Yasol Kim will probably get the nod.

Kim tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Horton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Horton feints and then cracks Kim's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kim down.
