PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mabahong Tae (ranked 22 p4p, 77 weight class) and Spider Monkey (ranked 5 p4p, 12 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mabahong Tae!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Spider Monkey!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey works Tae's body with a nice hook.
A shot to the liver by Tae. Beautiful body shot.
Tae throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Monkey counters with a nice body shot.
Tae throws a body shot but no joy.
Monkey ducks under a wild hook from Tae.
Monkey misses with a body shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Monkey.
Monkey lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monkey looks to land a left hand but Tae moved out of range nicely.
A slow jab from Tae misses its intended target.
Monkey defending well as Tae loads up on a big left hand.
Monkey lands a nice hook to Tae's body. Tae takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Tae misses with a right hand

and Monkey moves into the clinch.
Tae tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Monkey tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Monkey scores with a shot to the side of Tae's head.

Still in the clinch, Tae scores with a nice short uppercut.
Tae is trying to break the clinch but Monkey is controlling him.
Tae wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Monkey has him pressed against the cage.

Tae manages to break the clinch.
Mabahong Tae seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monkey moves away from the strike by Tae.
Monkey flicks out a counter leg kick but Tae steps away.
Tae pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Monkey scores with a jab.
Tae throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Monkey tries to clinch but Tae moves away
and Tae counters with a stiff right hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monkey throws a hook but Tae blocks it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tae swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Monkey slips a straight right by Tae.
Tae slips under a jab.

Tae gets tackled into the cage by Monkey. Monkey maintains the clinch.
Tae wants to break free but Monkey has control.
Monkey tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tae's elbow.
Tae tries to circle away but Monkey has him pinned against the cage.
Tae is trying to break free.
Monkey tries to pull guard but Tae holds him up against the cage and eventually Monkey drops back down to his feet.

Tae breaks from the clinch.
Monkey throws out a loose jab but Tae uses good head movement to avoid it.

It looks like Mabahong Tae has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tae paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Monkey cracks Tae with an open hand slap.
Nice jab there from Tae.
Tae lands the left hand.
Monkey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Tae checks a leg kick.
Monkey walks into a straight right hand from Tae.
Monkey uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tae.
A lazy left from Monkey finds it's target.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Monkey misses with a left hand
and Tae counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Tae gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tae misses with a straight right.
Tae is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Tae throws a jab when Monkey was well out of range.
Monkey slips a straight right by Tae.
Monkey bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A little jabbing left from Monkey on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Monkey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Monkey connects with a jab.
Tae changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Monkey finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Spider Monkey will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Mabahong Tae's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tae blocks a low kick nicely.
Monkey throws a wild body kick that Tae sees coming a mile off.
Monkey swings widly with a right hand

and Tae counters with a nice right hand that sends Monkey toppling to the canvas! Monkey scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Tae finish him?!
Monkey lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

enabling Monkey to counter with a crisp jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tae throws a poor cross that misses

and Monkey counters with a nice right hand that sends Tae toppling to the canvas! Tae scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Monkey finish him?!
Monkey moves away from the strike by Tae.
Monkey looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Monkey scores with the left hand. Tae knows he should have avoided that one.

Tae is rocked!
Monkey wants to slow Tae down by chopping away at his legs.
Monkey throws a body shot but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monkey throws a leg kick

and Tae counters with a crisp right hand that drops Monkey! Tae lets Monkey back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Monkey is rocked!
Monkey avoids a punch combination nicely.
Monkey is still on wobbly legs! Can Tae finish him?
A swing and a miss from Monkey.
Monkey swings widly with a right hand
and Tae rattles Monkey with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Monkey tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Tae dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Monkey stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mabahong Tae!
Mabahong Tae retains his middleweight title!
A very excited looking Mabahong Tae rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
