Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 2, fighting out of New York, Jim Bob Walton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Ishmael Egyptian!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walton throws a jab but it's blocked by Egyptian.
Walton throws a poor cross that misses

and Egyptian counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Walton gets full guard.
Egyptian trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Egyptian has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Egyptian pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walton is keeping the position for now.
Egyptian wants to control from the top but Walton keeps moving.
Walton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Egyptian throwing strikes from guard but Walton blocks nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walton has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Egyptian trying to control the position from guard on top but Walton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Egyptian stands and throws Walton's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Egyptian looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
My spies in The Infamous Duranto Gym inform me that Egyptian has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Egyptian goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Walton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Egyptian but great work by Walton.

Egyptian moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Egyptian escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Egyptian controls Walton momentarily but Walton frees himself.
Walton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Egyptian is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Egyptian has an active guard here but Walton has managed to pass into half guard.
Egyptian slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Walton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Egyptian working for submissions but it's allowed Walton to get to half guard.

A close round but Ishmael Egyptian will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Walton throws a sloppy head kick and Egyptian moves out of range easily.

Egyptian is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Walton looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Nice straight punches there by Walton. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Walton.
Jim Bob Walton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walton throws out a loose jab but Egyptian uses good head movement to avoid it.

Egyptian connects with a body shot that sends Walton's belly button to the back.

Walton takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

A head kick from Walton lands but Egyptian takes it in his stride.
Egyptian scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Walton doesn't seem bothered though.

and Egyptian counters with a nice double leg into side control. Walton won't be happy with that.

Egyptian swings around for an armbar but Walton sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Egyptian's guard.

Egyptian throws his legs up looking for a submission but Walton uses it to pass to side control.
Egyptian is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Egyptian moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Egyptian is on top in guard.

Ishmael Egyptian has got the better of the ground game so far.
Egyptian throws an elbow that misses. Walton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Egyptian's guard. Nice move by Walton!

Walton wants to stand but Egyptian has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Egyptian is looking for a triangle but Walton pushes his legs off easily.
Egyptian can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walton controls the pace.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Walton takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Walton is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Egyptian swats away the attempt to clinch by Walton.
Walton bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Walton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Egyptian with the counter takedown but Walton avoids it easily.
Walton fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walton misses with a straight right.
Egyptian is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Walton rather than just go for the knockout.
Walton throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Walton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Egyptian, pushing him back against the cage.

Walton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A jab lands there for Egyptian.

Egyptian uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Walton.
Egyptian throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walton.
Egyptian changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Egyptian avoids the body shot from Walton.
Egyptian misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Egyptian defending well as Walton loads up on a big left hand.
Egyptian feints the counter takedown.
Walton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Walton throws a head kick but Egyptian moves out of range.

and Egyptian counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Egyptian tries to free his leg and advance position but Walton is retaining full guard.
Egyptian looking to sit in guard and control but Walton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Walton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Egyptian is proving hard to escape from.

Egyptian looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Walton has picked Egyptian up and slammed him! Egyptian can't keep hold of the triangle and Walton manages to pass to side control!
You can see the frustration on Egyptian's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Egyptian is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Egyptian has his foot on Walton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Walton works his way back into a safe position though.
Egyptian takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Egyptian wants to sweep but no luck.
Walton wants to control from the top but Egyptian keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Walton falls off balance throwing a combination

and Egyptian counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jim Bob Walton.
I think Walton has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
