Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adan Puno (ranked 317 p4p, 443 weight class) and Alexander Rozhkov (ranked 42 p4p, 67 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Adan Puno has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Adan Puno seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adan Puno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Rozhkov!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rozhkov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rozhkov misses with an uppercut. Puno saw that one coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rozhkov. Puno does a little dance to reset his feet.
Puno is looking to counter with a body kick.
Puno throws a hook but Rozhkov blocks it.

Rozhkov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rozhkov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Puno keeps working.
Rozhkov throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Puno works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Rozhkov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rozhkov wants to pass to mount but Puno is defending the position.
Puno keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rozhkov is looking to take a break and control but Puno is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rozhkov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Puno is just riding it out for now. Rozhkov eventually gives up the hold.
Rozhkov trying to control from Puno's half guard. Puno has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Rozhkov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rozhkov wants to control from the top but Puno keeps moving.
Rozhkov landing some decent shots from guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rozhkov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Puno is keeping the position for now.
Rozhkov chips away with some ground and pound.
Rozhkov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Puno looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rozhkov is one step ahead there.
Puno managing to control the position.
Rozhkov trying to control but Puno is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rozhkov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rozhkov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rozhkov wants to control from the top but Puno keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rozhkov punishes Puno's body with a nice straight punch.
Rozhkov darts in looking for a takedown but Puno gets double underhooks and turns Rozhkov into the cage.
Puno is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Rozhkov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Puno counters with a nice right hand that sends Rozhkov toppling to the canvas! Rozhkov scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Puno finish him?!

It looks like Alexander Rozhkov has been cut.
Puno pounces like a tiger and cracks Rozhkov with a vicious hook! Rozhkov is down but not out! Puno follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Adan Puno!
A relieved looking Adan Puno thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
