Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Sycek (ranked 938 p4p, 837 weight class) and Abdo Farah (ranked 118 p4p, 103 weight class). Samuel Sycek had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Samuel Sycek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abdo Farah! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sycek tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Farah throws a body punch but Sycek moves out of range. Sycek drops down looking for a counter takedown but Farah sprawls and moves away. Sycek avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Farah lunges at Sycek with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sycek's hand. Farah tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sycek was well out of range. Poor timing from Farah. Farah throws a leg kick
and Sycek holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Sycek gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Farah regains guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sycek postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sycek trying to control but Farah is working from the bottom. Sycek lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Farah has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Sycek has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Farah breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Farah stuffs the takedown attempt from Sycek. Sycek gets slowly back to his feet. Farah throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Sycek gets a trip takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sycek is keen to just control but Farah is a slippery customer. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Farah can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've been hearing good reports from Sycek's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. That was a close round but I would say that Samuel Sycek will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Farah lands a nice hook to Sycek's body. Sycek takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Sycek shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Farah as he avoids it easily. Sycek gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Farah. Farah throws a nice inside leg kick. Farah connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sycek momentarily.
Sycek dives in and scores a takedown into Farah's guard. Farah wants to stand up but Sycek is controlling him. Sycek won't allow Farah to sweep him here.  The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Farah ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Farah defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sycek.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Farah ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sycek moves away. Sycek blocks the body kick.
Sycek is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Decent striking displayed by Farah there. Sycek paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Farah throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sycek sees it coming and avoids it easily. Sycek avoids a kick to the body.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sycek is looking to work some ground and pound but Farah has wrist control. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sycek accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Sycek shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Farah as he jumps to the side. Farah leaves Sycek with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sycek avoids the body shot from Farah.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sycek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Farah keeps working. Sycek postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Sycek works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
