Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sebastion Lynar (ranked 310 p4p, 1037 weight class) and Bobby Mercer (ranked 38 p4p, 104 weight class). Mercer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 32 - 25 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sebastion Lynar! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 31 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Mercer! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mercer misses with the combination.
Lynar swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Mercer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Lynar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Mercer tries to bum rush Lynar with a series of wild strikes but Lynar uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mercer misses with a few strikes there.
Lynar swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lynar scores with a shot to the body.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mercer looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Mercer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mercer trying to control but Lynar is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mercer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mercer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Mercer with a nice head shot there. Mercer trying to control the position from guard on top but Lynar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mercer landing with the ground and pound.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer is stalling in the full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mercer is looking to clinch but Lynar is avoiding it.

 It looks like Bobby Mercer has been cut.
Mercer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mercer showed some decent athleticism there. Mercer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lynar looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mercer connects with a nice short shot to Lynar's temple. Mercer winds up and cracks Lynar with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mercer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lynar defending well though. Mercer trying to control from half guard but Lynar is working away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mercer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bobby Mercer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lynar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lynar needs to keep his hands up - Mercer had a free shot at his head there. Mercer moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Mercer misses with a hook. Lynar ducked under it nicely.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Lynar swats away the attempt to clinch by Mercer. Donk. Mercer catches Lynar right on the button with a cross. Mercer scores with a three punch combo!
Lynar throws a hook to the side of Mercer's head but Mercer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mercer connects with a leg kick. Mercer fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Mercer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Mercer connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lynar's hands. Lynar wants to clinch and Mercer counters with a series of strikes. Lynar will be more careful next time no doubt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mercer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lynar at a distance.

Mercer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Mercer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Mercer gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Lynar counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Mercer down! Lynar is looking to finish but Mercer is intelligently defending himself. Lynar trying to control but Mercer is working from the bottom. Lynar tries to free his leg and advance position but Mercer is retaining full guard. Lynar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lynar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mercer dives on top into guard.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercer is continuing to stall. Mercer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lynar's head. Lynar is pulling down on Mercer's head to control his posture. Lynar working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mercer. Mercer stands up over Lynar, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mercer scoring with punches to the head and body. Mercer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Mercer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Bobby Mercer's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Mercer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lynar tries to counter by clinching up but Mercer breaks away and moves out of range. Mercer avoids a punch combination nicely.

A jab from Mercer finds it's way through Lynar's defenses. Mercer throws a looping overhand right but Lynar ducks down to avoid it. It looked like Lynar was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mercer. Lynar avoids a punch combination nicely.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut there from Mercer. No joy there for Mercer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mercer throws a head kick but Lynar moves out of range.

Mercer throws a shot from downtown. Lynar moves away and avoids it. Lynar throws a jab but it's blocked by Mercer. Mercer moves out of range as Lynar strikes. Mercer throws a nice looking combination but Lynar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercer throws a right and a left that both miss. Nice uppercut lands for Mercer. That snapped Lynar's head back.
Lynar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mercer's hands. Mercer lunges at Lynar with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lynar's hand. Lynar connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mercer momentarily.
Mercer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!  That's two minutes gone in the round. Mercer is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lynar is keeping busy. Lynar tries to pull guard but Mercer won't allow it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mercer. A frustrated look appears on Mercer's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mercer throws a knee to the head but misses.

Bobby Mercer seems to be getting the better of the standup. Mercer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Mercer connects with a jab.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer misses with a hook. Lynar ducked under it nicely. Mercer connects with a body shot. Mercer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lynar on the side of the head. Lynar takes a kick to the side of the head. Mercer lands a high kick!
Mercer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Bobby Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lynar misses with a straight left. Mercer does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Mercer connects with a leg kick.

Mercer closes the distance and clinches. Mercer lands a nice uppercut. Mercer's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lynar has a couple of punches blocked by Mercer.

Mercer tests Lynar's chin there with a solid looking shot. Lynar throws a body shot but no joy. Mercer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lynar. That did some damage! Mercer throws a half hearted mid kick. Mercer throws a series of punches but Lynar moves out of range. Mercer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lynar.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Mercer throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nice straight punches there by Mercer. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mercer. Lynar is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Mercer tries to clinch there but Lynar circles away.
Lynar stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mercer. Lynar tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Mercer lands a nice shot to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mercer throws a one two combo.

and Mercer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lynar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer throws a right hand that Lynar ducks under and follows up with a left that Lynar also avoids with ease. Mercer dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mercer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mercer clinches up with Lynar and pushes him back against the cage. Lynar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mercer smiles and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight! Bobby Mercer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mercer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
