Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darden Kane (ranked 5436 p4p, 4979 weight class) and Garry Hobbs (ranked 432 p4p, 402 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Garry Hobbs was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darden Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Garry Hobbs!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hobbs throws a good cross that connects.
Kane gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hobbs is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kane is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hobbs to the mat. Hobbs regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hobbs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kane gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hobbs is trying to hold Kane in close to prevent damage but Kane has managed to pass into half guard.
Hobbs controlling the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kane seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hobbs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hobbs wants to get back to full guard.
Kane is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Kane has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Hobbs throws a looping overhand right but Kane ducks down to avoid it.
Kane shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hobbs napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hobbs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hobbs tries to improve position but can't.
Hobbs is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Kane's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hobbs is looking to regain half guard here but Kane keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hobbs is still trying to improve position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hobbs is trying to control Kane's posture but Kane avoids it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Kane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hobbs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hobbs is trying to improve his position.
Kane is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hobbs's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hobbs can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nice shot lands for Hobbs.
Hobbs throws a jab but it's blocked by Kane.
Kane changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Kane pushes Hobbs up against the cage in a clinch.
Kane has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hobbs is trying to keep an underhook but Kane manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Hobbs wants to control but Kane is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hobbs is looking for a sweep. Kane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Darden Kane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Garry Hobbs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hobbs was covering up waiting for the punch and Kane finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hobbs is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kane has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hobbs is looking for a sweep.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hobbs sneaks back into half guard.
Hobbs wants to improve his position but Kane is controlling well.

Kane closes the distance and clinches.

Kane clinches up with Hobbs and pushes him back against the cage.
Hobbs wants to break free but Kane has control.
Kane is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hobbs can't fight it off and eventually Kane manages to take the fight to the floor. Hobbs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kane is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hobbs has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
