Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Suriyan Sitsongrit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raja Guru!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guru lands with a cross.
Guru looks for the body kick but Sitsongrit saw that one coming.
Sitsongrit moves out of range of the body kick from Guru.
Guru connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sitsongrit momentarily.
Sitsongrit stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Guru.
Sitsongrit needs to keep his hands up - Guru had a free shot at his head there.
It looks like Suriyan Sitsongrit has been cut.
Guru throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Sitsongrit connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A cross from Guru lands.
Sitsongrit thows a left - swing and a miss!
Guru is looking to land body kicks.
A telegraphed right hand from Guru misses the target.
Guru connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Sitsongrit looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Guru lands a left and a right that send Sitsongrit crashing to the mat, dazed. Guru thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Sitsongrit is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sitsongrit is aggressively charging in as Guru backs up avoiding any damage. Guru tosses out a jab and Sitsongrit runs right into it face first! Sitsongrit is out cold! Guru dropped down on all fours and is barking in Sitsongrit's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Raja Guru!
Raja Guru is the new featherweight champion!
