Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zap Pushkin (ranked 1041 p4p, 1493 weight class) and Gerald Phoenix (ranked 130 p4p, 185 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zap Pushkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Gerald Phoenix! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phoenix misses with a hook. Pushkin ducked under it nicely. Phoenix misses with a hook
and Pushkin counters with a nice body kick.
Phoenix throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Pushkin throws a head kick that Phoenix semi-blocks.
 It looks like Gerald Phoenix has been cut. Pushkin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Phoenix sees it coming and avoids it easily. Phoenix tries to counter with a clinch but Pushkin shakes him off and moves away. Phoenix tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pushkin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Phoenix takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phoenix misses with a two punch combination.
Pushkin misses with an uppercut. Phoenix throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Phoenix takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Phoenix tries to clinch but Pushkin is having none of it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix lands with a straight right. Pushkin didn't see that one coming. Pushkin connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Phoenix throws a hook to the side of Pushkin's head but Pushkin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Pushkin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Phoenix. Phoenix misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pushkin walks into a left hand. Pushkin takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Pushkin lands with a thumping leg kick.

and Phoenix counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Pushkin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pushkin sizes up Phoenix with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Pushkin throws a poor cross that misses
and Phoenix counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Phoenix misses with a head kick.

And Pushkin counters with a quick kick to the body but Phoenix blocks it. Phoenix throws a body punch but Pushkin moves out of range. Pushkin wants to land a leg kick but Phoenix is out of range. Phoenix throws a looping overhand right but Pushkin ducks down to avoid it. Phoenix scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Phoenix looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Phoenix misses with an uppercut. Pushkin saw that one coming.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Phoenix misses with a hook. Pushkin misses with an uppercut. Phoenix tries to counter by closing the distance. Pushkin throws a series of punches but Phoenix moves out of range. Pushkin keeps Phoenix at a distance using the push kick. Phoenix rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pushkin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Phoenix throws a right and a left that both miss. A low kick lands for Phoenix.
Pushkin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Phoenix throws a poor cross that misses
and Pushkin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Phoenix doesn't manage to clinch there - Pushkin circles away.
Phoenix displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pushkin throws out the jab. Phoenix throws a right hand that misses
and Pushkin counters with a three punch combo that has Phoenix backing up. Phoenix nods at Pushkin to acknowledge the strikes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Phoenix looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Pushkin swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Phoenix blocks a jab. Pushkin thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Phoenix if he has to take too many more of those.
Pushkin throws a right hand that Phoenix ducks under and follows up with a left that Phoenix also avoids with ease. Phoenix misses with an uppercut. Phoenix ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Phoenix wants to counter with a clinch but Pushkin pushes him away.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Pushkin scores with a nice head shot. Phoenix cracks Pushkin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Pushkin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Phoenix. Pushkin is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
 That has opened up Gerald Phoenix's cut even more. Pushkin thuds his right hand into Phoenix's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Phoenix moves away from the strike by Pushkin. Nice cross by Pushkin.
 Phoenix is rocked! Pushkin is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Phoenix misses with a hook. Phoenix lands with a cross. Phoenix scores with a push kick.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Phoenix throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Phoenix throws a sloppy head kick
and Pushkin counters with a crisp one two that drops Phoenix! Pushkin thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Phoenix to his feet! Phoenix is in big trouble! Phoenix is still on wobbly legs! Can Pushkin finish him? Pushkin throws a leg kick which misses Phoenix's front leg but catches the back leg as Phoenix tries to avoid it. I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Pushkin has cracked Phoenix with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Pushkin lands another huge swinging hook and Phoenix tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Phoenix, before Pushkin can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Zap Pushkin! After winning the bout, Zap Pushkin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
