Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joao Wendell (ranked 4990 p4p, 3742 weight class) and Jeff Bennett (ranked 481 p4p, 409 weight class). Joao Wendell has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joao Wendell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Bennett!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wendell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Bennett shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wendell's guard.

Wendell has his foot on Bennett's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bennett works his way back into a safe position though.

Our spies down at at London MMA Club inform us that Bennett has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bennett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wendell is one step ahead there.

Bennett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wendell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wendell goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bennett has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wendell but great work by Bennett.

Wendell get's back to his feet.

Wendell cracks Bennett with an uppercut from hell and Bennett crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Wendell's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

It looks like Jeff Bennett has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Wendell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bennett is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Wendell rolls with it to try and escape but Bennett cranks on the arm and Wendell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
