Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Minato Tokugawa!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gord Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tokugawa lands a head shot.

It looks like Gord Ryan has been cut.
Tokugawa feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ryans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Tokugawa jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Tokugawa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ryan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ryan thinks about the counter body kick.
Ryan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Tokugawa tries to clinch but Ryan is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryan moves out of range of the strikes.
Tokugawa throws an off balance right hand
and Ryan counters with a straight right hand.
Tokugawa swings widly with a right hand
and Ryan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tokugawa.
Ryan follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Tokugawa throws a lazy uppercut
and Ryan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ryan needs to keep his hands up - Tokugawa had a free shot at his head there.
Ryan slips under a jab from Tokugawa.
A countering left hand to the body from Ryan misses.
Tokugawa swings widly with a right hand
and Ryan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Tokugawa moves in looking to clinch but Ryan pushes him off.
Ryan only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Tokugawa lands a nice shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ryan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tokugawa.
Ryan now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Tokugawa throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ryan counters with a nice kick to the body.
Tokugawa is breathing heavily.
Tokugawa swings widly with a right hand
and Ryan counters with a stiff right hand.
Tokugawa closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ryan counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gord Ryan!
Gord Ryan is the new middleweight champion!
During a confident post fight interview, Gord Ryan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
