Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Thomas Babcock (ranked 556 p4p, 969 weight class) and Nakagome Kakuzo (ranked 75 p4p, 120 weight class). Babcock comes to the cage accompanied by 70. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesse Thomas Babcock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 26 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nakagome Kakuzo! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kakuzo wants to slow Babcock down by chopping away at his legs. Babcock half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Babcock swings and misses with a shot to the body and Kakuzo counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Babcock changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kakuzo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kakuzo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Babcock with the ground and pound but Kakuzo regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Kakuzo looking for submissions off his back. Babcock throwing shots but Kakuzo is blocking nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kakuzo wants to control but Babcock is keeping busy.

Babcock seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Kakuzo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Babcock is working away from the top position though. Babcock takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Kakuzo wants to control but Babcock is keeping busy.

Kakuzo wants to hold on but Babcock pushes him away. The referee warns Kakuzo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Kakuzo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Babcock tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kakuzo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Babcock is trying to control. Kakuzo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Babcock with shots to the head and body - Kakuzo looks very uncomfortable down there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Babcock looking to finish Kakuzo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kakuzo! Kakuzo regains half guard. Babcock seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Babcock looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kakuzo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Babcock is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kakuzo can do to turn this around? Babcock missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Kakuzo manages to escape and get back to his feet! Babcock moves out of range of the leg kick from Kakuzo. Kakuzo bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Kakuzo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kakuzo throws a push kick but Babcock slaps the foot to one side. Babcock drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kakuzo sprawls and moves away. Babcock shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kakuzo but Kakuzo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kakuzo takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Kakuzo throws a looping overhand right but Babcock ducks down to avoid it.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kakuzo chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kakuzo throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Babcock feinted with a counter takedown.
Babcock gets a takedown into half guard. Jesse Thomas Babcock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kakuzo is trying to stand.
Kakuzo is pressing down on Babcock's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Kakuzo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Babcock is one step ahead there. Babcock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Babcock working some strikes from top position. Kakuzo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kakuzo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Babcock working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kakuzo's head. Babcock works over Kakuzo with some ground and pound from guard. Babcock stopping the sweep attempt from Kakuzo.
Kakuzo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Babcock is aware though and is defending well. Babcock with a nice head shot there. Babcock keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kakuzo's head. Babcock postures up and lands a big shot to Kakuzo's brow. This has been an exciting period of action! Babcock lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
 Kakuzo is rocked! Babcock pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kakuzo is keeping the position for now. Babcock has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Babcock scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Kakuzo is still in real trouble! Can Babcock finish him? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kakuzo seems to have recovered his senses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Babcock tries to free his leg and advance position but Kakuzo is retaining full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jesse Thomas Babcock dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Babcock shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kakuzo as he jumps to the side. Kakuzo jabbing away but nothing is landing. Babcock changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Kakuzo throws a body punch but Babcock moves out of range. Kakuzo throws a wild body kick that Babcock sees coming a mile off. Nakagome Kakuzo seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kakuzo misses with a hook to the body
and Babcock counters with a nice double leg into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Babcock accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Babcock with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kakuzo is trying to control the position but Babcock postures up. Babcock postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Babcock landing some decent shots from guard. Babcock working some strikes from top position. Kakuzo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! Jesse Thomas Babcock showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Babcock, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
