Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clubber Lang (ranked 35 p4p, 156 weight class) and Ken Vrjalya (ranked 5 p4p, 22 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lang might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Каспийский Груз - Табор уходит в небо. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 19 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clubber Lang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Vrjalya!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lang misses with a looping left.
Lang rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Vrjalya counters with a takedown into side control.

Vrjalya tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Vrjalya thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Vrjalya is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lang knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vrjalya takes a little break here. Lang wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lang is looking to reverse the position.
Vrjalya controlling the position.
Vrjalya trying to control the action but Lang is working from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vrjalya is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lang has escaped the position, nice work there.

Vrjalya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lang seems keen to control Vrjalya's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lang connects with a single shot there.
Vrjalya ducks right into an uppercut from Lang.
Lang waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vrjalya.
Lang fakes the leg kick and cracks Vrjalya in the body.
Vrjalya blocks a jab.
Lang throws a lazy body kick

and Vrjalya decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lang's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lang has his hands on Vrjalya's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vrjalya wants to control from the top but Lang keeps moving.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A lazy left from Lang finds it's target.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lang.
Vrjalya doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Vrjalya changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Vrjalya takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Vrjalya steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lang.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lang.
Vrjalya takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Lang looks to throw a body kick

and Vrjalya counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vrjalya.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vrjalya tries to free his leg and advance position but Lang is retaining full guard.
Vrjalya looking to sit in guard and control but Lang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ken Vrjalya has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Vrjalya is trying to keep Lang in close.
Lang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lang wants to control from the top but Vrjalya keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lang is taking a breather. Vrjalya says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lang wants to pass to mount but Vrjalya is defending the position.
Vrjalya tries to get to full guard but Lang has control of the leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lang slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Clubber Lang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lang lands with an overhand left.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Lang throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Vrjalya slips under a jab.
Vrjalya is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Lang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lang misses with a straight right.
Vrjalya drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lang defends it well.
Lang lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Vrjalya at a distance.
Lang fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Lang swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Lang throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vrjalya takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Lang throws out a powerful jab.
Lang throws a lazy right hand but Vrjalya sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And Vrjalya tries to counter it with a takedown but Lang pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Lang throws a body punch but Vrjalya moves out of range.
Vrjalya is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Vrjalya closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Lang jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Lang looks to throw a body kick

and Vrjalya counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vrjalya is looking for a triangle but Lang pushes his legs off easily.

Lang engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Vrjalya wants to sweep but no luck.

Vrjalya pulls Lang in close to prevent any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lang is sitting in close to Vrjalya's body. Vrjalya has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lang is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lang is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Vrjalya.
