Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Hall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugo Azevedo! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Azevedo dodges the punch combination from Hall.
Hall avoids the body shot from Azevedo.
Azevedo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hall. Hall bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Azevedo's head backwards. Hall misses with an uppercut. Azevedo moves out of range as Hall strikes. Hall lands a jab-cross combination. Azevedo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hall throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Hall misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hall lands with a shot to the body. Hall shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Azevedo was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall. Hall throws a nice looking combination but Azevedo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Hall drops his hands momentarily and Azevedo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall's corner calls for a 1-2. Hall obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Hall gets caught flat footed, as Azevedo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Hall throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Azevedo wants to pass the guard but Hall is keeping the position. Hall utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Azevedo content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Azevedo trying to control but Hall is working from the bottom. Hall tries to strike from the bottom.
Azevedo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Azevedo lands a nice forearm strike. Azevedo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Azevedo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hall keeps working. Azevedo advances to mount. Hall regains half guard. Azevedo seems to be looking for submissions.
Azevedo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Azevedo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hall! Azevedo scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hall is trying desperately to improve position. Hall is breathing heavily. Hall defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Azevedo.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Azevedo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hall has worked his arm free - good work by Hall!
Hall tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Azevedo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Azevedo trying to control the position but Hall is working away. Azevedo is trying to get an arm triangle but Hall is defending well. Azevedo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hall is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Azevedo yanks on the arm and Hall is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Azevedo.
