The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alastrasz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Alastrasz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gomez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gomez wants to improve his position but Alastrasz is controlling well.
Gomez is refusing to be controlled, as Alastrasz sits in half guard.
Alastrasz tries to pass to full mount but Gomez defends it.

Alastrasz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gomez tries to lock up and control but Alastrasz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alastrasz fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Alastrasz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gomez looks a forlorn figure.
Gomez takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Alastrasz's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
