Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Layzie Assassin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Howard Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Assassin comes to the cage accompanied by Thuggish Ruggish Bone. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assassin tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.
Jones looks to land a left hand but Assassin moved out of range nicely.

Assassin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jones's head.

Jones moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Jones tries to clinch up but Assassin circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones throws a hook to the side of Assassin's head but Assassin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Assassin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jones doesn't seem bothered though.

and Assassin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Howard Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Assassin lands a right hook to the body.

and Assassin counters with a straight right hand.
Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Assassin cracks a nice hook into Jones's ribs.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Assassin.
Assassin ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Assassin forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones blocks an uppercut.
Jones swings wildly with an uppercut but Assassin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Assassin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Jones throws a front kick aimed at Assassin's knee but Assassin avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Assassin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones.

Assassin displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Jones is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Assassin rather than just go for the knockout.
Assassin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jones wants to stand up but Assassin is controlling him.

Assassin is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Assassin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Assassin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Assassin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones looks like he's trying to stand up.
Assassin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Assassin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones tries to kick Assassin off but Assassin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Assassin uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.
Assassin throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Jones because Assassin loaded up on that one.
Jones wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Assassin.
Assassin working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones tries to buck Assassin off but he can't manage it.

Jones wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Assassin.
Assassin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Assassin is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Jones is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Jones flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Assassin anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Jones and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Assassin slips an arm under Jones chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Assassin has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Assassin is squeezing on Jones like an anaconda would it's prey. Jones fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
