Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rice Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall Floyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Floyd has chosen California Waiting by Kings of Leon as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rice Boyd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randall Floyd! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Floyd ducks right into an uppercut from Boyd. Boyd gets a clinch. Boyd's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Boyd darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Floyd is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Boyd scores with a couple of nice shots. Boyd scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Floyd is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boyd pulls his head out easily. Floyd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Boyd is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Floyd defends it well. Boyd throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Boyd tries to pass the half guard into mount. Floyd knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Floyd is trying to get back to full guard. Boyd seems to be looking for submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boyd is defended easily by Floyd. Floyd with a poor takedown and Boyd counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Floyd keeping full guard, as Boyd tries to pass. Boyd scoring with punches to the head and body. Boyd forces his way into half guard. Boyd is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Floyd is staying active underneath Boyd, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Floyd is looking for a sweep. Boyd is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Boyd is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Floyd defends it well. Floyd wants to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Floyd tries for a takedown but Boyd circles away easily letting Boyd counter with a right hand. Floyd gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Boyd counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Rice Boyd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randall Floyd. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Floyd throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Boyd slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Floyd is looking for a sweep. Floyd manages to work his way to half guard, despite Boyd's best efforts. Floyd is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Boyd scores with a couple of nice shots. Boyd is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Floyd sees it coming and defends easily. That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyd is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Floyd doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Boyd. Boyd has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Floyd defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Boyd. Floyd tries to hold on but Boyd pushes him away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Boyd has hold of Floyd's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Floyd manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The referee warns Floyd that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Floyd has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boyd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Boyd is pushing down on Floyd's leg trying to pass to half guard. Floyd is fighting to maintain full guard but Boyd has managed to sneak the leg through. Boyd has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Floyd defend it? Boyd steps over the head and cranks it - Floyd is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Boyd!
