Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ness Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Campbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ness Webster!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Campbell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Campbell shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Webster manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Campbell looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Webster looking for a sweep. Not yet Webster, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Campbell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Webster has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Campbell has managed to get both his arms back between Webster's legs - danger averted.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Campbell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Campbell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Webster can't keep his opponent in guard - Campbell advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Campbell throwing shots but Webster is blocking nicely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Campbell looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Campbell is looking to take a break and control but Webster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Campbell not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Campbell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Webster with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Campbell prevents Webster from improving his position.
Campbell not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Still in half guard, Campbell seems content to control.
Webster has hold of Campbell's hands but Campbell slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Campbell is taking a breather. Webster says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Webster slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Webster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Webster looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Campbell has picked Webster up and slammed him! Webster can't keep hold of the triangle and Campbell manages to pass to side control!

Campbell controls the position.
Campbell working the ground and pound from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Campbell wants to control but Webster is keeping him busy.

Campbell tries for a kimura but Webster is defending well.
Webster manages to work his way to half guard, despite Campbell's best efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Campbell dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Campbell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Horrible takedown by Campbell or perhaps it was just good defense by Webster which made him look bad.
Campbell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Webster's waist but Webster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Campbell off to one side.
Ness Webster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Campbell.
Campbell avoids the head kick by Webster.

Campbell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Webster was covering up waiting for the punch and Campbell finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Campbell trying to control the position from guard on top but Webster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Campbell is breathing heavily.
Webster wants to hit a switch here but Campbell passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Webster there!

Webster is in all sorts of trouble here.
Webster is working hard here to advance position.
Campbell controlling the position easily from mount.
Webster is looking to get to half guard.

Webster makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Webster.
Campbell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Webster works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Campbell tries to free his leg and advance position but Webster is retaining full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Campbell is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Webster looking for a sweep. Not yet Webster, not yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Webster throws a head kick but Campbell moves out of range.
Campbell blocks a head kick by Webster.
Campbell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Webster but Webster pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Webster lands a head kick!
Richard Campbell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Webster tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ness Webster will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Campbell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Webster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Campbell somewhat.
Campbell shoots in for a takedown but Webster shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A head kick misses from Webster.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Campbell.
Ness Webster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Campbell.

Campbell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Webster tries to buck Campbell off but Campbell is having none of it.
Webster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Campbell is looking to stall here but Webster recovers full guard.
Campbell takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Webster tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Webster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Campbell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Webster looking for a sweep. Not yet Webster, not yet.
Webster manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Webster is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Webster extends the arm and Campbell is forced to tap!
