Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, The Viceroy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bender Rodriguez! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodriguez looks to land a combination but Viceroy avoids it well. Rodriguez tries to clinch up but Viceroy circles away and keeps his distance. Viceroy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rodriguez moves away. Rodriguez staying out of range there. Viceroy takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Rodriguez throws a combination. Viceroy tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Viceroy lunges at Rodriguez with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rodriguez's hand. Viceroy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rodriguez prevents Viceroy from moving into mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rodriguez is looking to reverse the position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Rodriguez wants to get back to his feet but Viceroy drags him back down. Viceroy wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Viceroy postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Viceroy landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. A lull in the action here. Viceroy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Rodriguez struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rodriguez is looking for a sweep. Viceroy trying to control the action but Rodriguez is working from the bottom. Viceroy looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rodriguez is avoiding damage well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Rodriguez wants to get back to his feet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Viceroy shoots in looking for a takedown. Rodriguez tries to sprawl out of it but Viceroy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rodriguez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Some wild striking there from Viceroy.
Viceroy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Viceroy connects with a right hand. Rodriguez shakes it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Viceroy misses with a straight left. Rodriguez defending well as Viceroy loads up on a big left hand. Rodriguez scores with a body shot.
Rodriguez misses with a wild body shot. Bender Rodriguez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Viceroy circles away from the clinch attempt.
Viceroy comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Rodriguez misses with a jab to the body
and Viceroy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Viceroy keeps the fight on the outside. Viceroy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Viceroy passes the guard and advances to mount! Viceroy thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
The Viceroy dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Viceroy cracks Rodriguez with an open hand slap. Rodriguez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Viceroy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Rodriguez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Viceroy lands a nice uppercut. Viceroy drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Viceroy. Viceroy blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Viceroy has picked Rodriguez up - he's going for a ride! Viceroy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Rodriguez regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Viceroy. Viceroy stops Rodriguez from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Viceroy showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Viceroy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Rodriguez pulls Viceroy in close to his closed guard and prevents Viceroy from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Viceroy preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rodriguez keeping moving, preventing Viceroy from controlling successfully. Viceroy forces his way into half guard. Rodriguez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Viceroy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Viceroy content to control rather than advance. Viceroy trying to control from half guard but Rodriguez is working away. Rodriguez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Viceroy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Viceroy is looking to advance position but Rodriguez won't allow it. Viceroy wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping him busy. Rodriguez is positioning himself well to prevent Viceroy advancing to mount.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rodriguez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Viceroy swats him away and circles back towards the center. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A left lands for Viceroy. Rodriguez tries to clinch but Viceroy moves out of range. Viceroy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rodriguez. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
The Viceroy dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodriguez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Viceroy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Viceroy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Viceroy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Viceroy shoots in for a double leg but Rodriguez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Rodriguez misses. Rodriguez pushes Viceroy up against the cage in a clinch. Viceroy is trying to trip Rodriguez. He has hold of a leg but Rodriguez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Viceroy persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Viceroy looking to pass the guard. Viceroy trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodriguez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rodriguez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rodriguez controls Viceroy momentarily but Viceroy frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Viceroy trying to control but Rodriguez is working from the bottom. Bender Rodriguez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Viceroy wants to pass the guard but Rodriguez is keeping the position. Viceroy trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodriguez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The Viceroy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rodriguez lands a really nice looking cross but Viceroy seems unphased.
Viceroy doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Excellent takedown into side control there by Viceroy. Rodriguez can't do much from the bottom here. Viceroy is looking to take a break and control but Rodriguez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Viceroy is really struggling to control Rodriguez but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Viceroy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Viceroy trying to control the position but Rodriguez is working away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rodriguez regains half guard there - taking advantage of Viceroy's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
And that's the end of the fight! The Viceroy showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Viceroy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
