Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Takehiko Takaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Zimmerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zimmerman has chosen Linkin Park-- What Ive Done as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Zimmerman! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zimmerman ducks under a wild hook from Takaki. Takaki throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Zimmerman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takaki was well out of range. Poor timing from Zimmerman. Takaki scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Takaki wants to land a leg kick but Zimmerman is out of range. Takaki tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zimmerman was well out of range. Poor timing from Takaki. Zimmerman checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zimmerman avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Zimmerman shoots in and bounces Takaki off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Zimmerman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Zimmerman trying to control the position from guard on top but Takaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Zimmerman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Takaki is proving hard to escape from. Zimmerman throwing strikes from guard but Takaki blocks nicely. Takaki wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zimmerman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Zimmerman throwing strikes but missing. Takaki has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Takaki misses with a kick to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. A clash of legs there as Zimmerman blocks the low kick. Takaki leaves Zimmerman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Takaki has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Takaki there as he acknowledges the shot. Zimmerman tries to land a body kick and Takaki makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Zimmerman throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Zimmerman keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Zimmerman counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Takaki throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Takaki takes a swing at Zimmerman's ribcage but misses. Takaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Takaki. Takaki steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Zimmerman. Takaki throws a head kick that misses enabling Zimmerman to counter with a crisp jab. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zimmerman blocks a leg kick. Good exchange - Takaki coming out on top. Zimmerman throws a wild body kick that Takaki sees coming a mile off. Zimmerman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Takaki. Zimmerman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takaki pinned against the cage. Takaki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Takaki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zimmerman moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Takaki thows a left - swing and a miss! Takaki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Takaki tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Zimmerman goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Takaki drops his hands momentarily and Zimmerman takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Zimmerman checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Zimmerman circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takaki ducks under a wild hook from Zimmerman. Zimmerman moves out of range as Takaki strikes. Zimmerman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Takaki counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Zimmerman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Takaki circles away. Takehiko Takaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Zimmerman. Takaki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Zimmerman paws at him with a jab and circles away. Zimmerman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zimmerman looks to throw the jab but Takaki is out of range. Takaki throws a low kick but Zimmerman avoids it. Takaki is looking to chop away at Zimmerman's legs. Takaki feints and then cracks Zimmerman's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zimmerman down. Takaki throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Zimmerman checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Takaki throws a lazy body kick and Takaki takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Eric Zimmerman will probably get the nod - 10:9. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Takaki defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Zimmerman. Takaki darts in and clinches Zimmerman up against the cage. Takaki struggles to land a body shot inside as Zimmerman controls his hands.

Zimmerman pulls guard effortlessly. Takaki content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takaki has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zimmerman looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Takaki has picked Zimmerman up and slammed him! Zimmerman can't keep hold of the triangle and Takaki manages to pass to side control! Zimmerman is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Takaki off and has taken his back! Zimmerman is punishing Takaki with strikes - can he finish him?! Takaki is in bad spot here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zimmerman is striking from the back but Takaki escapes and manages to recover to half guard. Zimmerman trying to control the action but Takaki is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takaki is looking to escape. Zimmerman thows a huge punch but Takaki dodges it nicely.
Zimmerman stands up from half guard. Zimmerman moves out of range of the leg kick from Takaki. Zimmerman fails with the takedown and Takaki makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takaki throws a leg kick but Zimmerman sees it coming and checks it nicely. A lazy left from Zimmerman finds it's target. Takaki lands a nice leg kick that just misses Zimmerman's sensitive parts. Zimmerman throws a sloppy head kick and Takaki counters with an outside leg kick.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Takaki lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Zimmerman has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Zimmerman and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Takaki misses with a hook. Zimmerman ducked under it nicely. A head kick misses from Takaki. Takaki throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Takaki lands a nice shot that snaps Zimmerman's head back.

Takaki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Takehiko Takaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Takehiko Takaki. I think Takaki has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
