Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiger Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by MANY MEN. Yoshihiro Akiyama looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jones counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Yoshihiro Akiyama has been cut.
Akiyama throws a combination that misses
letting Jones counter with a right hand.
Jones thows a body shot but no joy.
Jones getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Tiger Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Akiyama moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jones dodges the punch combination from Akiyama.
Jones connects with a body shot that sends Akiyama's belly button to the back.

Jones has Akiyama up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Akiyama backwards.

Akiyama tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.

and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Akiyama is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Akiyama has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshihiro Akiyama. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
