Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Higgins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Heysel Heysel! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Higgins keeps the fight on the outside. Heysel tries to clinch up and Higgins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Heysel is looking to improve his position.
Heysel looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Higgins landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
It looks like Heysel Heysel has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Higgins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Heysel's head. Higgins working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Higgins missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Heysel on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The cut above Heysel Heysel's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Heysel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Higgins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Heysel is just riding it out for now. Higgins eventually gives up the hold. Heysel is looking for a sweep. Higgins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Higgins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Higgins slips a nice elbow through Heysel's hands, connecting with Heysel's forehead.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Heysel Heysel's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
