Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Emilio Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio da Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). da Costa has chosen Da Boondocks as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emilio Stark! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio da Costa! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stark throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and da Costa cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. da Costa rushes Stark and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. da Costa has Stark pushed against the cage. Stark drops down looking for an ankle pick but da Costa pulls his leg out and moves away.
da Costa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stark, pushing him back against the cage. Stark tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. da Costa smiles and moves away.
da Costa throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stark gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and da Costa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emilio Stark. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stark tries for a takedown but da Costa manages to get underhooks.

da Costa has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Stark is trying to keep an underhook but da Costa manages to get the takedown into half guard. da Costa wants to work for an arm triangle but Stark is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. da Costa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stark defends it well. da Costa seems to be looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. da Costa with the ground and pound but Stark uses the opportunity to regain guard. Stark controls da Costa momentarily but da Costa frees himself. da Costa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. da Costa trying to stand up but can't free himself from Stark's guard. da Costa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stark has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, da Costa has managed to get both his arms back between Stark's legs - danger averted. da Costa throws a strike but Stark rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. da Costa is pulling down on Stark's head to control his posture. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. da Costa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. da Costa wants to sweep here but Stark controlling him for the moment.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Antonio da Costa hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Stark doesn't succeed with the takedown and da Costa counters with a two punch combo. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Stark has his takedown stuffed and da Costa counters with a head kick. That will keep Stark thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio da Costa dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
da Costa clinches with his opponent.
Stark jumps guard but da Costa stands there with Stark around his waist. Stark gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
da Costa is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Stark can't fight it off and eventually da Costa manages to take the fight to the floor. Stark looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. da Costa trying to control the position from guard on top but Stark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Stark is trying to keep da Costa in close.
Stark wants to sweep here but da Costa controlling him for the moment. da Costa advances to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. da Costa wants to control but Stark is keeping him busy. da Costa is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Stark as he works his way to full guard.

da Costa passes into half guard. Stark is defending against the submission attempts here by da Costa.
That's two minutes gone in the round. da Costa trying to control from half guard but Stark is working away. Stark wants to control but da Costa is keeping busy and won't allow it. da Costa is trying to work for a kimura but Stark is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. da Costa is trying to control the action in half guard but Stark is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. da Costa is working for a submission of some sort.
Stark blocking the ground and pound attempt from da Costa. da Costa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stark doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time da Costa. da Costa seems to be looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. da Costa not landing any meaningful shots this time. Antonio da Costa has got the better of the ground game so far. Stark trying to control but da Costa postures up.
Stark is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. da Costa works his way into side control. da Costa slows the pace down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio da Costa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Stark misses with a takedown and da Costa counters with a body kick that stops Stark in his tracks momentarily. da Costa tries to clinch up. Stark has his takedown stuffed and da Costa moves into the clinch. da Costa has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Stark clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Stark tries to escape but da Costa has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Stark is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if da Costa gets his way!

That's one minute gone in the round. da Costa working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. da Costa trying to control. da Costa biding his time, looking for the opening.
Stark trying to control the position but da Costa manages to sink in the hooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. da Costa working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Stark is doing well to defend. da Costa seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Stark is forced to tap and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Antonio da Costa! Antonio da Costa retains his lightweight title!
