PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Torsten Stalhandske (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Perry might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Run For Cover. Stalhandske has chosen Jean Sibelius - Finlandia as his entrance music. Torsten Stalhandske has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lee Perry's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lee Perry!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Torsten Stalhandske!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stalhandske swings for the body but Perry moves out of range.
Perry finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A swing and a miss from Stalhandske.
Stalhandske buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Perry. Stalhandske does a little dance to reset his feet.
Perry lands a nice hook to Stalhandske's body. Stalhandske takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Perry misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Stalhandske tries to hold on but Perry postures up.

Perry is looking to sweep but instead, Stalhandske has passed into half guard.

Perry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Perry wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Stalhandske biding his time, looking for the opening.
Let's hope that Stalhandske has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Stalhandske keeps control of the position as Perry tries to break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stalhandske controlling the position well here. Perry rolled but Stalhandske kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Stalhandske throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Perry tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Perry throws a leg kick
and Stalhandske counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Perry misses with a head kick.
Lee Perry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stalhandske throws a low kick but Perry avoids it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Perry. Stalhandske does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stalhandske throws a half hearted mid kick.
Perry comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Perry - that will leave a mark!
Stalhandske is breathing heavily.
Stalhandske takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Stalhandske misses with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perry misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Perry shoots in for a takedown but Stalhandske shows good takedown defense.

Perry tries for a takedown but Stalhandske sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Perry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Perry just misses with a punch to the body.
A clash of legs there as Perry blocks the low kick.
Perry closes the distance and clinches up with Stalhandske, looking for a takedown. Perry pushes Stalhandske against the cage but Stalhandske circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Perry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stalhandske moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stalhandske misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Perry tests Stalhandske's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Stalhandske chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Perry can pounce on him.
Perry scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Stalhandske throws a hook to the side of Perry's head but Perry sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Stalhandske tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Perry was well out of range. Poor timing from Stalhandske.
Perry is looking to wear down Stalhandske with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A solid body kick from Perry.
Perry cracks Stalhandske with a right hand to the side of the head.
Lee Perry is winning the standup battle so far.
Stalhandske takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stalhandske takes one to the side of the head.

Perry scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


Stalhandske is rocked!
Perry scores with a jab to the body.
Stalhandske finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Perry's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Stalhandske falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lee Perry!

In his post fight interview, Lee Perry gave a big smile as he said 'When I left school there was nothing to do except field work. Hard, hard labour. I didn't fancy that. So I started playing dominoes. Through dominoes I learned to read the minds of others. This has proved eternally useful to me.'.
