Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takashi Katsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Barreda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takashi Katsumoto! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesus Barreda! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Katsumoto connects with an inside leg kick. Katsumoto keeps Barreda at a distance using the push kick. Barreda is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Barreda swings for the body but Katsumoto moves out of range.
Barreda throws a jab but it's blocked by Katsumoto. Barreda misses with a jab, cross combination.
Katsumoto lands a head kick. Barreda smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Barreda misses with a lunging right hand
and Katsumoto counters with a leg kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Katsumoto takes the fight into the clinch. Barreda escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Barreda looks to score with a jab to the body but Katsumoto is just out of range. Barreda on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Barreda crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Katsumoto - the referee stops the clock and Barreda gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Katsumoto. Barreda manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Barreda swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Katsumoto to counter with a crisp jab. Katsumoto uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barreda.
Katsumoto lets loose with a powerful body kick. Barreda will feel that in the morning. A kick lands to the mid section there for Katsumoto. Barreda looks gassed! Katsumoto feints and then cracks Barreda's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Barreda down. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Katsumoto throws a front kick that sends Barreda stumbling back into the cage. Katsumoto digs a good hook to Barreda's body.
Katsumoto fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Katsumoto lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Katsumoto throws a head kick that half lands.

Barreda takes a body punch but keeps moving. Katsumoto keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Katsumoto moves into the clinch. Barreda is looking to break free of the clinch but Katsumoto has double underhooks. A hook to the body from Katsumoto.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Katsumoto stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Barreda has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Katsumoto. Katsumoto creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Barreda's defenses. A nice glancing elbow lands by Katsumoto. Katsumoto working Barreda over with knees to the body. Barreda takes an elbow to the temple. Barreda takes an elbow to the temple. Katsumoto lands a nice elbow from the clinch. A knee to the head by Katsumoto.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Katsumoto comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Katsumoto putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Barreda in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Katsumoto lands a nice uppercut.
Barreda is rocked! Katsumoto creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Barreda with a big uppercut! Barreda tries to clinch up but Katsumoto pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Barreda to the mat! Barreda covers up and Katsumoto unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Takashi Katsumoto! Takashi Katsumoto retains his welterweight title! After the fight, Takashi Katsumoto was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
