The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assisi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Assisi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Morello is keeping the position for now.
Morello working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Assisi.
Assisi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Assisi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morello works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Morello knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Assisi on the ground.
Assisi has gone for a leg lock! Morello slips out almost immediately though and dives into Assisi's guard.

Assisi is working an open guard so Morello takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Assisi gets tackled into the cage by Morello. Morello maintains the clinch.
Morello misses with a short punch on the inside.
Assisi tries to pull guard but Morello holds him up against the cage and eventually Assisi drops back down to his feet.
Assisi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Morello misses with some punches.
Assisi jumps into guard, dragging Morello to the mat.
Assisi looking for a guillotine here but Morello defends easily.
Morello trying to stand up but can't free himself from Assisi's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Assisi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morello doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morello manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Morello has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Morello got a little sloppy there for a moment and Assisi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morello has managed to get both his arms back between Assisi's legs - danger averted.
Morello avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Assisi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Morello frees his head nicely. Oh but Assisi has switched to an armbar! Morello is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
