Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bear Grylls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jean Charles!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grylls takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Charles keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Charles lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Grylls fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Grylls stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Charles.

Grylls drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Grylls working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Charles gets back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Grylls is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Grylls drops back, looking for a kneebar! Charles looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Charles looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Charles!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Grylls postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Charles is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Grylls, into his guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Bear Grylls will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Grylls shoots in looking for a takedown. Charles tries to sprawl out of it but Grylls keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Charles manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Grylls doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Charles scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Grylls will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Charles throws a series of strikes that have Grylls backpedaling.
Charles connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Charles scores with a spinning back kick!
Charles moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grylls closes this distance looking for a takedown but Charles circles away.

Charles comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Grylls sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Grylls will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Charles scores with a jab.

Grylls shoots in but Charles avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Charles is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Grylls rather than just go for the knockout.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Grylls crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Charles - the referee stops the clock and Grylls gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Charles. Grylls manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Charles throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jean Charles seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Grylls fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Charles avoids it really well and circles away.
Charles thuds his shin into the meat of Grylls's side.
Charles lands with a thumping leg kick.
Charles leaves Grylls with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Charles smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Charles throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Grylls.
Grylls shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Charles as he jumps to the side.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Charles thuds his right hand into Grylls's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Grylls takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Grylls has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Charles.

Both fighters circling a little - Charles finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Charles throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grylls is defended easily by Charles.

Grylls shoots for a double leg takedown but Charles sprawls well. He's pushed Grylls's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Grylls is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Charles punishes Grylls's body with a nice straight punch.
Grylls takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Grylls misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jean Charles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grylls has a takedown stuffed.
Grylls on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Grylls looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Grylls sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Grylls doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Charles counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Grylls thinking.

Charles lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jean Charles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Grylls chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Charles can pounce on him.

Charles sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
