Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Freddy Mak! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Viktor Herzog! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mak uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Herzog. A jab from Mak misses. Herzog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Herzog uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mak. Herzog tries for a takedown but Mak circles away easily and Mak decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Herzog's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Herzog has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mak can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mak lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Mak preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Herzog controls Mak momentarily but Mak frees himself. Mak lands a couple of decent looking shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mak working some strikes from top position. Herzog manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round. Mak gets full guard. Mak looking for a guillotine here but Herzog defends easily.
Herzog throws a big right hand that misses. Mak looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Herzog landing some decent shots from guard. Herzog sitting in guard, not really doing much. Herzog trying to control the position from guard on top but Mak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mak tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mak avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Herzog. Mak looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Herzog working over Mak with some ground and pound. Mak looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Herzog slips a nice elbow through Mak's hands, connecting with Mak's forehead. Mak keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Herzog is nestled in close to Mak, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Mak taking some punishment here, with Herzog in his half guard.
Mak is rocked! Herzog winds up and cracks Mak with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Oh Mak is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Herzog has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mak defend it? Herzog steps over the head and cranks it - Mak is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Herzog!
