Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Driggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Julio Driggs will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Askren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julio Driggs! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Askren throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Askren with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Driggs to score with a decent uppercut. Driggs misses with an attempted mid kick.
Driggs tries to close the distance and clinch but Askren swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Askren throws a nice looking combination but Driggs bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Askren jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Driggs throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Driggs takes a swing at Askren's ribcage but misses. Askren moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Driggs slips a straight right by Askren. Driggs misses with a hook. Driggs lands a nice looking body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round. Driggs defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Askren. Askren throws a series of punches but Driggs avoids them all with ease. Driggs wants to clinch up but Askren keeps it at a distance. Driggs tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Askren is able to avoid easily. Driggs connects with a solid leg kick. Driggs throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. The fight stays on the outside here - Driggs looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Driggs doesn't manage to clinch there - Askren circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Askren waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Driggs. Driggs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Driggs lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Driggs throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Driggs darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Askren closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Driggs to the mat! Driggs manages to get full guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Driggs is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Askren is controlling him. Askren engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Askren wasn't doing enough on the ground. Askren will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Askren being controlled against the cage. Driggs lands a left hand that snaps the head of Askren backwards. Askren looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Askren drops down looking for an ankle pick but Driggs pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him. Driggs dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Askren. That did some damage! Julio Driggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Driggs clobbers Askren with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Driggs lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Askren shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Driggs as he jumps to the side. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Driggs throws a nice outside leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Askren misses with a takedown attempt - Driggs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Driggs drives through and clinches with Askren against the cage.

Driggs stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Driggs throws a wild body kick that Askren sees coming a mile off. Askren fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Driggs avoids it really well and circles away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Driggs lands a head shot. Driggs stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him. Driggs is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Driggs keeps Askren at a distance using the push kick. Driggs connects with a solid leg kick. Askren gets a takedown into half guard. Askren prevents Driggs from standing back up.

Askren with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Askren is trying to control. Driggs wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We're going to have a standup here because John Askren wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Driggs connects with a looping right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Driggs moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Jab from Driggs. Driggs with a jab. Good work by Driggs as he checks the leg kick. Julio Driggs seems to be getting the better of the standup. Driggs will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Askren throws the left hand but Driggs avoids the punch easily. Askren takes a jab right on the kisser.
Driggs connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Driggs lands a head kick. Askren smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Askren takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Julio Driggs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

This has been an exciting period of action! Driggs wants to get back to his feet but Askren is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Askren trying to control the position from guard on top but Driggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

John Askren has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Driggs scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Driggs fails in his attempt to clinch. Driggs lets loose with a powerful body kick. Askren will feel that in the morning. Driggs pushes Askren away with a front kick. Driggs ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Driggs plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! John Askren has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Askren is rocked! Driggs walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Askren drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Driggs swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Askren's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
