Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beaumont McHale! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Utter! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McHale misses with an uppercut. Utter saw that one coming. Utter misses the shot to the body. McHale leaves Utter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. McHale tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Utter swivels and escapes. McHale stuffs the takedown attempt from Utter. Utter gets slowly back to his feet. Utter attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. McHale defending well as Utter loads up on a big left hand. McHale displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Utter throws out the jab. McHale misses with a two punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. McHale swinging wildly here.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Utter dives in and scores a takedown into McHale's guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Utter throws a big elbow that misses. McHale looking for a sweep. Not yet McHale, not yet. Utter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Utter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. McHale avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. McHale looking for a sweep. Not yet McHale, not yet. Utter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Utter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Utter's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Utter throws a big elbow that misses. McHale on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McHale tries to get out of the position. Utter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Utter throwing strikes from guard but McHale blocks nicely. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Utter preventing the sweep. Utter trying to control the position from guard on top but McHale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Utter won't allow McHale to sweep him here. McHale not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. McHale looking to hit a scissor sweep but Utter is one step ahead there. Utter chips away with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McHale keeping moving, preventing Utter from controlling successfully. Utter is looking to work some ground and pound but McHale has wrist control. McHale trying to control the position.
McHale working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Utter. Utter throwing strikes from guard but McHale blocks nicely. Utter stopping the sweep attempt from McHale. McHale trying to control the position.
Utter won't allow McHale to sweep him here. Utter lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Utter throws a big elbow that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Utter postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Utter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McHale works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Utter wants to control from the top but McHale keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now McHale is on top in guard.
Utter looking for a sweep. Not yet Utter, not yet. Utter keeping moving, preventing McHale from controlling successfully. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Utter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. McHale missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Utter wants to sweep here but McHale controlling him for the moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McHale lands a couple of decent looking shots. McHale trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Utter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that's the end of the fight! Charlie Utter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Utter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
