Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beaumont McHale! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Utter! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McHale throws a right and a left that both miss. Utter throws the left hand but McHale avoids the punch easily. No joy there for Utter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Utter looks for a takedown but McHale sprawls well. McHale throws a one two combo.
McHale misses with a takedown so Utter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Utter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McHale works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McHale working a defensive guard here.
Utter with a flurry of punches that miss. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. McHale preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Utter looking to pass the guard. McHale trying to keep a closed guard but Utter is proving a slippery customer.
Utter lands a couple of digs. McHale utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. McHale working a defensive guard here.
Utter trying to control the position from guard on top but McHale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Utter won't allow McHale to sweep him here. McHale is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Utter makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Utter. McHale is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Utter looking to hit a scissor sweep but McHale is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Utter can do anything to dispel that myth. McHale postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Utter wants to sweep but no luck. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Utter controls McHale momentarily but McHale frees himself. Utter thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. McHale loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Utter pulls McHale in close to his closed guard and prevents McHale from doing any damage or advancing position. McHale is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Utter wants to sweep but no luck. McHale seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that's the end of the fight! Charlie Utter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Utter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
